Research analyze the functional and social performance of the public spaces and squares in the city of Lattakia, by studying the universal adopted principles and criteria in this field. According to that, research define a functional and social requirements, which could contribute to reach a criteria for evaluating the functional and social efficiency of the public spaces in the city. Research continue with an analytical study for a main public space in Lattakia city ( Yaman Square ) based on these criteria in order to determine the range of realization these criteria by this space, which contribute to define the strength and weakness points of the solution in this aspect. Study concludes a set of results that define and describe the functional and social performance of the public spaces and in the city of Lattakia. Finally, study propose some recommendations that could contribute to treat the weaknesses and promote the strengths in the process of the public spaces formation in the city of Lattakia.

The research presents an analytical study of some of the children's playing spaces in
parks in the city of Damascus in order to verify the extent to which architectural elements

The research aims to study the relationship between social capital development of: a
commitment of workers to the work value and ethic and trust building, and the development of
networks of social relations, and investment potential of the library
to improve the service of
society, and the promotion of the activities of public libraries between public beneficiaries.
Descriptive methodology has been adopted to include all staff who are working at
Directorate of Culture in Latakia province libraries, amounting to almost (154) employees, due to
the small size of the research population. Comprehensive survey has been used, it was distributed
to (154) workers, a (141) questionnaires were found suitable for analysis, and the response rate
was (91.56%).
The paper proceeds to review the concept of Residential Urban Spaces and their classification, and to limit the variables affecting the performance of the spaces and identify the ways to measure these variables. Then, it conducts a field survey of a
variety of spaces in the City of Lattakia. The paper also proceeds to conduct a questionnaire to the urban spaces users and the residents of the surrounding segments of the population in order to identify the users’ opinions and reviews on the current status of the space performance and identify the most important needs and activities favored by the users within the space. It also identifies the reasons behind selecting certain spaces rather than others.
After that, the paper proceeds to analyze the data in order to develop a mathematical model that determines the most important variables that affect the performance of the space, positively or negatively. Consequently, a mechanism will be set up to boost the performance of the Residential Urban Spaces by influencing the most powerful variables affecting the spaces and rejecting the weaker ones. Finally, making recommendations to activate the spaces and make it a safe interactive human, socio- cultural environment.
