In this search we characterized 8 double purposes olive varieties (Mawi Istanbuli, Khilkhali Khishen, Dan, Mniekri, Doaibli, Khilkhali Saghir, Karamani Modabal, Sourani), which cultivated in ACSAD Gene bank in Gellin by ISSR molecular markers to determine the relationship between these varieties, we noticed that these varieties are so close to each others depending on quantitive traits, which ranged from 60% and 85%, it was noticed that Mneikri was apart from the other varieties in its traits, polymorphic rate was 92.94%.

This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Tissue Culture, Faculty of Agriculture, Tishreen University. Because of the importance of the food and economic of chickpea, two Winter chickpea cultivars (Ghab 4, Ghab 5) and two Vernal chickpea culti vars were used (ILC263, ILC1929) and planted in pots until flowering, so the floral buds were picked before opened and washed with distilled water and alcohol three times. Anthers were separated and treated at preliminary temperatures (4 Cْ for 48 hours, and 35 Cْ for 12 hours), then it washed with a solution of hypochlorite of sodium( Naocl 2%) for a period of 15 minute, and washed with distilled sterilized water ,then where planted on the environment Murashige and Skoog ( MS) equipped with 1, 3 and 5 mg/L of auxin 2,4, D, as well as 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3 mg /L of Cytokinin Benzyl Amino Purine( BAP) individually and with interaction between them and incubated under conditions of 27 Cْ and 75% of the humidity and the intensity of 1500 Lux of light for 16 hours. The main objective of research was to study the effect of both preliminary heating treatment , quality and concentration of used hormone on producing callus from used chickpea cultivars anthers. Results showed difference in cultivars response in the treatment of both temperature and single hormone, so Ghab 5 cultivar was the most responsive to the formation of callus, while the results indicated that the highest percentage of the formation of callus was 40% when treated at 4 Cْ of Ghab 4 and Ghab 5 cultivars, while ILC263 cultivar showed less response in all the individual treatments for growth regulators. As well as results showed that the significant and catalyst role for using of hormones together with heat treatment, where each of Ghab 5, Ghab 4 and ILC1929 cultivars were the superiority, by the arrival of the percentage of 80% and 60%, respectively.
The self-incompatibility problem appeared in the Khodeiry variety widely grown In Lattakia. When this phenomenon was studied on the Khodeiry variety in two areas (Jabla and Boqa), the results showed that this variety is self-sterile, i.e. it is not able to pollinate itself or the flowers of other trees of the same variety, and its fruit is very small and do not contain seeds. The results also showed that the flower abortion percentage in the Khodeiry variety is due to the genetic factor which varies depending on the variety. The study investigated the self-compatibility in some olive varieties in order to use them as pollinizers for the Khodeiry variety with the result that the Gellet, Soufrawy and Sourany varieties are particularly compatible and have a high compatibility with the Khodeiry variety. Based on these results, it is recommended that pollinated varieties are grown between olive orchards to improve fruit and to increase its production.
This study was conducted at Abo Jarash farm, Faculty of Agriculture, Damascus University In order to determine the response of three local varieties of potato (Sponta, Draja, Diamont) to salinity stress with different concentration of NaCl solutio n (0,50, 100, 150, 200 mM). The results indicated that the existence of a inverse correlation between increased concentrations of salts in the solution and the rate of plant height, leaf area, and the percentage of leaf dry weight, and the proportion K+/ Na+., and the productivity was declined with a proportional rate 22< 32, and 48% for the varieties of Sponta, Draja, Diamont, respectively. Results indicated the existence of reverse relationship between increasing salt concentration in the medium and plant height, Leaf area, dry weight of the leaves and K+/Na+ ration in addition to the decline in the productivity of studied varieties. The results also showed variations in the extent of tolerance between studied varieties to salinity stress where Sponta was the most tolerant, followed by Draja and Diamont was the less tolerant and this was reflected in terms of higher germination and increasing the mean of plant height, Leaf area and dry weight of plant.
Phenols were studied in the leaves of Syrian olive varieties collected from (Harasta and Ghouta, Damascus Countryside and Qalamun). Phenolic compounds were extracted from the olive leaf varieties after disposal of plant pigments and fatty compounds, and total phenols separated with solvent (methanol - water).
The research was conducted on some olive varieties known as Alsourani- Aldan- Mahazm Abu Satel- Alglet- Alnepali, in the aim of comparing their tolerance against the stress of salinity (sodium chloride) through some morphological and physiological traits. Different concentrations of salt as well as to the control (fresh water) were used in this experiment.
