Rock slope failures usually occur along the structural discontinuities in rock masses, but for weathered and highly jointed rock masses, failure surfaces are often curved as in soil slopes. This paper is concerned with stability analysis of weathered and highly jointed rock slope using shear strength reduction technique by FLAC program, which uses finite difference method. This paper presents a stability analysis of a rock slope in Khneifees mines in Syrian desert, to verify that it is safe for workers and equipments to work beside it, and manipulates the result charts of FLAC analysis using finite difference method and shear strength reduction technique to assess the stability of the rock slope, determine the safety factor of the rock slope and expect failure mechanism.

In this research, site investigations and tests were performed in Khneifees phosphate mine. Samples of the studied rocks were brought to the laboratory and tests were performed. The types of these rocks are clayey limestone, organic limestone, white and gray trepolite, opoka, chert and phosphate. The tests were performed according to "American Standards for Testing of Materials" (ASTM), and the recommendations of "International Society for Rock Mechanics" (ISRM).
A newly developed methodology based on image analysis technique has been used to measure fiber openness and the results are compared with those of the traditional method of measurement of fiber openness. The role of different opening process paramete rs in deciding the openness of fibers obtained by image analysis technique is found to be much higher than that obtained by beaker test method. It is found that the higher speed of opening rollers and higher angle of grid bars improve fiber openness appreciably, but with little deterioration in fiber quality. The higher fiber openness ultimately results into more regular and less imperfect yarn. With the increase in fiber openness, yarn strength and yarn breaking elongation increase initially and then decrease. Yarn hairiness almost unchanged with the increase in fiber openness.
In this paper, the modeling methods of tunneling and the surface subsidence induced by that have been studied by using two-dimensional numerical analysis according to the FEM method, assuming the green field condition، which means that there is no load on the soil surface above the tunnel. A FE study was conducted in which an elasto-plastic constitutive model was adopted to model the soil behavior (HS, HSsmall). This article includes a comparison between the results of numerical analysis and field measurements to executed projects، and a suggested method for modeling tunnel excavation and surface subsidence induced by that.

Shupamem, a language of Western Cameroon, is a tonal language which also exhibits the morpho-phonological process of full reduplication. This creates two challenges for finite-state model of its morpho-syntax and morphophonology: how to manage the fu ll reduplication and the autosegmental nature of lexical tone. Dolatian and Heinz (2020) explain how 2-way finite-state transducers can model full reduplication without an exponential increase in states, and finite-state transducers with multiple tapes have been used to model autosegmental tiers, including tone (Wiebe, 1992; Dolatian and Rawski, 2020a). Here we synthesize 2-way finite-state transducers and multitape transducers, resulting in a finite-state formalism that subsumes both, to account for the full reduplicative processes in Shupamem which also affect tone.
