The effect of temperature on the development of the predator Hippodamia variegata (Coleoptera:Coccinellidae) reared on the green peach aphid Myzus persicae Sulzer (Homoptera:Aphididae) was determined at five constant temperatures (15, 20, 25, 30 and 35)°C under laboratory conditions. The present study was conducted at Latakia Agricultural Research Center during 2015 and 2016. This study aimed to determine the impact of temperature on the development of the predator H. variegata to identify the suitable temperature for rearing this predator. The duration (days) and survival (%) were measured for this predator. Results showed that temperature had a significant effect on the development of H. variegata immature stages, whereas the development time from larvae to adult decreased with increasing temperature at thermal range (15-35)°C. The longest larval developmental duration was 24.84 days at 15°C, and the shortest duration was 4 days at 35°C. Also, the shortest pupal duration was one day at 35°C and the longest period was 9.84 days at 15°C. The lowest developmental time from eggs hatching to emergence of adults was 6 days at 35°C, while the longest developmental time was 36.84 days at 15°C. Also the ratio of larval survival was affected by temperature, this ratio was (26%, 52%, 77%, 34%, 4%) at (15, 20, 25, 30 and 35)°C respectively. The results of statistical analysis showed that there were significant differences between the five constant temperatures in all studied biological characteristics, and the temperature 25°C was suitable for a successful rearing of the predator H. variegata.

Carnation is one of the most important crop for cut flowers not only in Syria but all over the world. The producers in Syria and in other countries are suffering during the seasons of hot temperature from dwarfing of the plants and the production of small flowers. The work conducted here was to investigate the effect of high temperature on flower development and morphology.
Some biological parameters of the parasitoid, Encyrtus aurantii (Geoffroy) (Hymenoptera : Encyrtidae) were studied under controlled laboratory conditions at five levels of temperature 18, 21, 24, 27, and 30 °C, 65±5% R.H. and a photoperiod of 16:8 (L:D) h when reared on Brown soft scale Coccus hesperidum L. (Homoptera: Coccidae) reared on Pumpkin Cucurbita moschata during the season 2010- 2011 . Result showed that the longer developmental period from egg to pupa was on 18 °C with an average of 24.25 days, and the lower developmental period was on 30°C with an average of 8.25 days. The longer developmental period from pupa to adult was on 18 °C with an average of 10.75 days, and the lower period was on 30 °C with an average of 5.5 days. The lower developmental threshold (LDT) from egg to pupa was 15.83°C, and 14.34°C from pupa to adult. E. aurantii required a Sum of Effective Temperatures (SET) of 122.74 degree-days above the lower developmental threshold (16.95 °C) to complete the development from egg to adult.
The results of this study showed the important role of the light intensity compared with the light exposure time on coloring the new formed leaves, also this study had showed that the leaves are not affected by the different temperatures, and also that these plants showed a decrease in the different pigment substances in close proportions. Concerning the amount of proteins, the results have shown main differences in the protein bands between the mutated and the natural species, but we have found a decrease in the amount of proteins in the mutated species than in natural species.
In this study, the effect of temperature on volume strains in three types of local clay soils was studied after adding different percentages of sand for each soil (10%-20%-30%40%-50%) when temperatures change from (20-60)° C to be used as liners i n solid waste landfill sites . The results of the study showed that the mixing of sand with the clay played a key role in reducing the magnitude of volume strains between (24-27%) of the value of strains.
