To determine the susceptibility of some olive varieties to the disease of eye peacock, We studied the development of eye peacock disease on 3 varieties (Khadairy - Zorzalina - Frontoio. The percentage of infected leaves and the severity of infection were estimated during spring and autumn months, the maximum period of the spread of the disease.

To know the effect of some fungicides on peacock eye disease has beentested five fungicides from different chemical groups, using concentrations advisable to field application,on the 45 year old olive trees in the Baksa village Lattakia . The resul ts showed an increase in incidence of the control of 22.4 to 45.5 % after 45 days, versus low incidence rates in the fungicides tested treatments . The best two fungicides were thiophanate –methyl with infection decreasing from 19.2 to 10.3% and chlorothalonil from 24.3% to 16.5% . The severity also decreased in the treatment of the fungicide thiophanate –methyl from 9.7 to 4.1 % and chlorothalonil from 13.7 to 8.9 % while the severity of the infection of the control increased from 10.5 to 25.6 % .In order to efficiency the fungicide thiophanate – methyl was more effective reducing the infection severity compared with the control with 82.8 %, followed by chlorothalonil , kresoxsim methyl , and mancozeb with 73.3 , 72.0 , 71.9% respectively whereas the fungicide copper oxychloride was the least effective with 68.1%.
The effect mycorhizal fungi on tomato wilt disease caused by Fusarium oxysporum was studied. The results showed that % of disease incidence reduced in treatment whit mycorrhizal fungi . % of disease incidence reached to 33% when plants infected wit h mycorrhizae and Fusarium wilt compared to plants infected with Fusarium wilt just where% of disease incidence reached to 70% .The results showed a sighificant increased in plant height ,leaf number , fresh and dry matter of shoot and root in treated plants with mycorrhiza and Fusarium wilt compared whit treated plants with Fusarium wilt. The increase in plant height reached 24.13% ,16.93% in leaf number,36.13% in wet weight of shoot ,48.14 in wet weight of root,30.37% in dry weight of shoot and 29.18% in dry weight of root in treated plants with mycorrhiza and Fusarium wilt.
Yellow rust caused by Puccinia striiformis f.sp. tritici is one of the most important disease affecting wheat worldwide. The objective of this study was to evaluate some morphological and productivity characteristics of durum and soft wheat collected from different locations of Syria.
The self-incompatibility problem appeared in the Khodeiry variety widely grown In Lattakia. When this phenomenon was studied on the Khodeiry variety in two areas (Jabla and Boqa), the results showed that this variety is self-sterile, i.e. it is not able to pollinate itself or the flowers of other trees of the same variety, and its fruit is very small and do not contain seeds. The results also showed that the flower abortion percentage in the Khodeiry variety is due to the genetic factor which varies depending on the variety. The study investigated the self-compatibility in some olive varieties in order to use them as pollinizers for the Khodeiry variety with the result that the Gellet, Soufrawy and Sourany varieties are particularly compatible and have a high compatibility with the Khodeiry variety. Based on these results, it is recommended that pollinated varieties are grown between olive orchards to improve fruit and to increase its production.
The research was conducted on some olive varieties known as Alsourani- Aldan- Mahazm Abu Satel- Alglet- Alnepali, in the aim of comparing their tolerance against the stress of salinity (sodium chloride) through some morphological and physiological traits. Different concentrations of salt as well as to the control (fresh water) were used in this experiment.
