The aim of this research is to show that the insaturated fatty acids and their esters acquire quite interesting surfactant properties when they are sulfonated with SO٣ or HSO٣Cl. They are of great interest by virtue of being derived from renewable natural source in addition to their surface tension lowering, foaming power, rapid biodegradability and excellent performance in hard water. Yet, they achieve an improvement in soap behaviour in hard water. Therefore this type of surfactant can form a particularly effective synergistic system.

Syria has produced cotton oil with large quantity like many other countries. This position provides an impetus to develop oleochemical industries, such as: fatty acids, fatty methylester, and fatty alkyl ester. These products can be sulfonated with SO٣ or HSO٣Cl. As a result, the obtained products have interesting properities due to their good detergency, lower sensitivity to water hardness, rapid degradability, and good skin mildness properties. Therefore, they can be used when mixed with other detergents or soaps for house hold purposes.
Sugar fatty acid esters are nonionic surfactants, which are used for personal care products, cosmetic applications, and as emulsifiers for food. In recent years, enzymatic synthesis of sugar fatty acid esters is attracting keen attention as a new manufacturing method for future application. Some Reaction parameters of lipase-catalyzed synthesis of SFAE in organic solvent were optimized in a batch reactor. Optimum conditions for reaction performed were 10% (w/w of substrates) of lipase from Candida antarctica B, at 60°C. Among the solvents tested in this study, the highest yield (93%) was obtained when Aceton was used as a solvent,. The optimal sugar-to-fatty acid ratio was tested in the range from 3:1 to 1:7 and verious sugars were used. A high conversion was obtained when the ratio of Sugar: Fatty acid (1:5) and Froctuse were used as substrat, respectively.
Orange fruits contain many materials such as oils in seeds which have biological and nutritional values, due to that, physical and chemical properties of orange seed oil (OSO) have been determined, which extracted from two samples collected from two areas (Al-ssisanyah and Al-jma'ashyah) which are different in environmental factors.
The recent synthesis of the new polymers has been profoundly affected by the unique characteristics of Dimer Acid. These polymers were made up following the condensation with triethanolamine when was treated in melted phase. We performed identifi cation of the physical characteristics of the polymers such as the molecular weight, in addition to the acid value and hydroxyl value. Infrared spectroscopy have been used in identification of this polymer. Also, the rheological behavior has been assessed thermally and shearing stress by using capillary viscometer. Our results revealed a reduction in the viscosity with increase of the shearing stress as will as with rise in the temperature.
six new products using Knoevenagel condensation of isophthalaldehyde and terephthalaldehyde have been prepared with the following active methylene compounds: malononitrile, methyl cyano acetate, ethyl cyano acetate, dimethyl malonate and diethyl m alonate. We determined the optimum conditions of the reaction by studying the effect of solvent and catalyst nature and reaction conditions on the condensation.
