The aim of this study is to examine the role of oxidative stress (OS) by measuring Malondialdehye (MDA) levels to test Lipid Peroxidation as a marker of oxidative stress in serum samples in toxic injuries resulting from exposure to anticholinesterase insecticides (organophosphates and carbamates) in greenhouse workers in the coastal region of Syria. The study population comprised two groups (the majority of males): greenhouse workers who prepare and spray pesticides (100 workers, aged 18-61) and Control group (not never handle pesticides, 50 subjects, aged 19-58). Malondialdehye (MDA) levels were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). There was a significant difference in MDA levels in greenhouse workers group compared to control group (P˂0.05). Therefore, MDA levels could be considered as a biomarker for oxidative stress in greenhouse workers exposed to anticholinesterase insecticides and might be a useful diagnostic aid and monitoring exposure in those workers as well as cholinesterase enzyme.

This research was carried out in four different regions on the Syrian coast on four herds of Shami goats different in numbers. These were grown in different ways depending on farmers' concepts and needs, and the geographic location of each region. T he number of goats that were studied was (44). The daily average of milk production per goat was calculated, in addition to the monthly average and overall average for every herd during the lactation season which was divided into two phases (Breastfeeding, Lactation) .In the first phase it was (2493,9 – 2238,6 – 1776,6 – 81,6) L ordered by herd and method of breeding (4 – 2 – 3 – 1) and same was in the second phase. The average production rate was (54,27)% in first method of first herd and in other methods was lower than (50)% and increased in other herds (49,39 – 45,36 – 44,16)% respectively (2 –4 – 3 – 1). It was noticed that in the second phase of Lactation the herd of first method retracted to lower than (50)%and rose in other herds (55,83 – 54,63 – 50,60 – 45,72 )% Respectively (1 –2 – 4 – 3). Statistical analysis demonstrated the lack of significant differences in second and forth herd in spite of the different methods used in the other herds, and in second phase statistical analysis was in four herds in accordance with different methods of breeding.
An assessment of nine vicia faba genotypes (flip84-59fb, AGUADOLCE LB 1266 SML, FLIP84-14FB, GIZE.461, REINA BLANCA, autochthon, Spanish, and Cypriotes) was achieved, during 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 seasons, in Al_Bassa farm, near Lattakia city. Su perior genotypes will be adopted as a high yield improved varieties in that area, however, the other genotypes (possessing genetic characteristics, superior of local genotypes), will be used in future breeding programs. The results indicated a significant differences between studied characteristics of the genotypes, as Spanish genotype recorded the best pod length (17.16cm), having high degree of inheritance (68.24), followed by filp84-59fb genotype (15.1 cm), with weight seeds per pod (33.6 g), having high degree of inheritance (68.45), followed by the Cypriot genotype, by seed weight (14.66 g), number of pod (4.6), having low degree of inheritance (23.53), followed by Cyprian autochtone genotype, and Aguadolce.lb1266,and filip84 - 14fb number of pod (3.6). The Cypriot genotype was the best, in terms of pod weight (23:43 g), having high degree of inheritance (76.45) followed by Spanish (20.63g), and seed weight (3.93g), having medium degree of inheritance (54.82), followed by style filip84-59fb (3.73 g), and 100-seed weight (4.1g), having high degree of inheritance (97.49), followed by Aguadolce genotypes (285 g). The SML genotype is the best among premature genotypes in terms of flowering (46 days) and maturity (148 days), followed by Cypriot in terms of flowering (51 days) and flip84- 59fb in terms of maturity (155 days)
Soil water erosion is one of the most important factors of soil degradation. Soil erosion is a process that causes loss of big amounts of nutrients and organic matter from the topsoil layer and pollutes the surface water bodies. The USDA- WEPP (Wa ter Erosion Prediction Project erosion model) represents a new generation technology for estimating soil loss by water erosion and sediment delivery from hillslopes and small watersheds. The main purpose of this study was evaluating the capability of WEPP model.
In this study, trends of annual and seasonal precipitation time series for the period of (1971–2006) were analysed for three meteorological stations (Lattakia, Tartous and Safita) located in the coastal region of Syria, by linear regression and Spear man's rho tests. The results showed a decreasing trend of annual precipitation in Lattakia and Tartous stations and increasing trend in Safita station. At the seasonal time scale, a decreasing trends of winter precipitation in Lattakia station and of spring precipitation in all stations were observed. While an increasing trends of winter precipitation in Tartous and Safita stations and of autumn precipitation in all stations were observed. Although, all of these negative and positive linear trends, both at the annual and seasonal time scales are not statistically significant at 5% level, but they can have severe effects on water resources, rivers regimes and success of rain-fed crops in the study areas
