In this research, we estimate the survival function by using three nonparametric estimation methods and is to the method of Kaplan and Meier, the method Gaussian Kernel and method Weibull Kernel. Depending on the method of simulation and a complet e real data from reality. Where we proposed a new method to estimate the survival function is to use Weibull Kernel and choose a new value to the optimal bandwidth, which have an important role in the estimation process.
Investment is considered the engine to economic growth because it leads to many productive and service projects and in many other fields as well. Investment creates lots of job opportunities and offer the government and individuals financial revenues which usually come back in the economic circle through sales, this increases the absorption capacity of the national economy and expanding consumption in addition to ameliorate the living conditions for citizens. Investment has different aspects such as local private and public investment, direct and indirect foreign investment. In all cases, it is considered a fundamental venue and basic motivation for growth in any community. The research concentrates on the subject of investment and the role of private investment in the Syrian economy during the period 2006-2010. The objectives are first to explore the legislative and legal structure of private investment through analyzing the main features of the Syrian economy in early twenty 1st century and the development of this structure, which is the first part of the research. The second objective is to study the importance of private investments at the sector level and locally and abroad as well, which constitute the main theme of the second part of the research under the title “the development of the private investments in the Syrian Economy”.
The present research aimed at calculating the optimum size of production so reaching the minimum point at production cost curve. The profit function in the short run was used , the results showed that the optimum size of phosphate' factory product ion amounted to about 27.5 thousands ton which accompanied with both minimum cost and higher profit.
This paper aims to examine the relationship between stock prices and macroeconomic variables in the United States using quarterly data for the period 1988 to 2012. We dentify five macroeconomic variables ( i.e, gross domestic product, inflation, r eal money supply, Treasury bill rate, and oil prices) that researchers have linked to stock prices. We then examine the relationship between these macroeconomic variables and the S&P500 by estimating cointegration system using Johansen technique. Moreover, this paper will use Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) to test the short run relationships. Also, we use variance decomposition technique to understand which macroeconomic variable have more explantory power of the variation in the S&P500.
This study was conducted in a green house at the Faculty of Agriculture Sana'a University, during 2000-2001 and 2002 growing season. The objective of the study was to obtain a genetic information on total soluble solids in the tomato fruits in ord er to estimate the gene action effects, which control inheritance, heterosis, degree of dominance and heritability in term of broad sense and narrow sense, as will as, reduction inbreeding depression in F2, for understanding the suitable method for genetic improvement of quality. Two tomato cultivars were used for genetic screening and cross breeding for F1 hybrid production. F1 was cross bred with the parents for getting back cross P1 and P2. Also, F2 was obtained. The results revealed, the heterosis in F1 based on average of mid parents was 7.94% as compared with average of higher parents (-2.21%). The degree of dominance was less than 1.0, which indicate partial dominance, additive gene action variance was higher than the non additive gene action variance which reflected on the narrow sense heritability (h2 n.s), that reached 81.37%. The reduction in inbreeding depression in F2 reached 15.82%. The overall results indicated that, selection and hybridization methods seem to be a good method for improving quality of total soluble solids in tomato.
