This research was carried out during the period 08/28/2012 - 07/29/2013 in order to determine the qualitative composition of Puffer Fishes (Tetraodontidae) in the marine water of Latakia. Fish samples were collected from three stations (Borj Islam, Al madina al riyadiah and Jableh), the total of fishes were / 255 / individuals. All fish individuals were classified, preserved and placed at the High Institute of Marine Research Laboratory, some biological factors of the collected fish (K%, GSI%,HIS%) were studied. Results had revealed the presence of five species of Puffer Fish belong to three genera of Tetraodontidae: Lagocephalus sceleratus, L. spadiceus, L. suezensis, Sphoeroides pachygaster, Torquigener flavimaculosus. S. pachygaster species (migratory species from the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean Sea) has been recorded for the first time in the marine water of Syria. Results showed that L. suezensis were more coincidence species in the catch. The amounts caught of Puffer Fishes varied according to the stations; the highest was in Borj Islam. K% was almost similar in all species, while GSI% and HSI% varied according to the species and seasons.

Due to the lack informations on Biochemical of jellyfish in the Syrian waters, the aim of this paper is determining the nutritional value and organic content for each of the species Rhopilemanomadica, Pelagianoctiluca and Aequorea forskalea, and co mpared the biochemical composition of the three types , so the comparison showed clear differences in the content of organic material, the sugar were the most concentrated in the three species and lipid comes in second class, and then followed by the protein content and organic carbon.A.forskalea was the most containing sugar and R.nomadica the most lipids content, and P.noctiluca were the most protein content.R.nomadic was the highest content in organic carbon, R.nomadica and P.noctiluca were convergent contents of organic phosphorus, while the least contain of organic nitrogenwas in A.forskalea.
We screening for antimicrobial substances production from marine algae of Syria. We presented results of ١٦ algal species tested by their lipide and aqueous extracts agaimst Gram’s negative and positive bacteria, as well as one fungous species. T he lipide not aqueous extracts were the active against Gram’s positive bacteria especially. No effect founded on the fongous species. In addition we make comparative viewing with other studies on other mediterranean contries regarding the same species of algae tested.
The aim of study was to determine the dates of breeding and sexual maturity for Marsupenaeus japonicus in Lattakia coast as introduce for hatching and culturing it. The specimens were collected from the sea water of Ibn-Hany area at the north of L attakia, during the period November 2010 to October 2011 once or twice monthly. In vitro study included distinguishes males and females, morphometric measurements and weights for all individuals. The genital maturity stage was determined externally and through histological sections.
In this paper, the seasonal variations of CO2 system and pH values in surface seawater of Banias city are shown during the period in spring 2015 and winter 2016, in addition to determine the impact of hydrological factors.
This study aimed at determining the fish fauna composition in 16th of Tishreen Lake (Alkabeer Alshimali River). A total of 730 individual fishes were collected between April 2012 and March 2013 from five different sites along the lake /Alsafkoon, W ata-Alsheer, Alkerassat, Mazraet Alsheikh Deeb, and Alaqfaas area/. Our results showed the presence of only six main fish species belonging to three families (Tillapia zillii, Cyprinus carpio, Liza abu,Varicorhinus damascinus, Garra rufa and Garra lamta). The results also showed that Tilapia zillii was the most caught fish, and Wata-Alsheer was the richest site in the lake. These results showed a decrease in the number of fish species and their quantities compared to that in previous studies on the lake.
