the appearance of one’s hair is central to feelings of attractiveness and selfesteem for many, so the disturbance in this appearance will reflect upon the psychosocial aspects of the patient and thus on the quality of his life. The androgenetic alopecia (male pattern baldness) is the most common cause of hair loss in men, as it affects about 50% of adult men, so it may be considered the biggest threat in this aspect, but there are no epidemiological studies that study the actual effect of androgenetic alopecia on the quality of life of the patients in Syria. study the effect of the androgenetic alopecia on quality of life of the Syrian male patients.

Background& Objective: Onychomycosis is a frequent nail disease caused by dermatophytes, yeasts, and non-dermatophyte molds. Far more than being a simple cosmetic problem, infected nail serves as a chronic reservoir, which can give rise to repeated mycotic infections. This study aim to identify the common fungal species which are responsible for onychomycosis in clinically suspected patients of onychomycosis in Dermatology and Venereal Diseases Hospital in Damascus between October 2010 and July 2011. Materials & Methods: Both direct microscopy and culture of the nail material were performed to identify the causative fungi of onychomycosis. Results: Culture positivity was obtained in 65 of the 76 clinically suspected samples, etiological fungal agents were (%61.5) dermatophytes, (24.6%) yeasts, and (13.9 %) non-dermatophyte molds . The isolated fungal species were (43.1%) Trichophyton Rubrum and (16.9%) T. Interdigitale (1.5%) T.Verrucosum Aspergillus Versicolor which was the most frequent non dermatophyte molds. Females were affected in fingernails more frequently than males, while males were affected in toenails more frequently than females, and in both sexes those most infected were between 20-40 years of age. Conclusion: Dermatophytes, in particular T. rubrum, but also T. Interdigitale, are the most frequently isolated causative agents in onychomycosis in patients seen in Dermatology and Venereal Diseases Hospital in Damascus . In addition, yeasts may be isolated relatively frequently, while molds are uncommon.
The common problem that may encounter surgeons were the change of the volume of iliac bone grafts which used in atrophic region in the alveolar bone because of the resorption of this grafts during healing period. This study aimed to compare between block graft which taken by surgical bur (trephine)and grafts which collected by bone scraper ,in this way the bone graft look like small chips .This study included 10 patients who presented the oral and maxillofacial department in dentistry faculty in Damascus university between 2010-2012 A.D. the patients suffered from sever atrophy in upper and lower alveolar bone for different underlying causes and needed to compromise these atrophy to create a suitable area for dental implantation .The iliac bone grafts were turned into a real bone in the grafted area but the block grafts were saving their volumes more than the grafts collected by bone scraper. We used Mann-Whitney U and SPSS to evaluate the data that collected during the research and the results revealed that the block iliac bone graft which used to compromise the atrophic region would resorb less than the grafts which collected by bone scraper . But these grafts showed that it would be more exposed after surgery than the bone scraper grafts .
A study was done about bleeding in first trimester of pregnancy including 816 patients from 3104 pregnant women(26.28 %) . The causes was abortion ( %96.07), ectopic pregnancy (%2.69) and hyditidiform mole (%1.22). In patients with abortion 486 p atients suffered from pain with bleeding(%61.09) and when happeded together the rate of complete abortion elevated . (%78.18) had early abortion whereas(%21.81) had late abortion. The most common high risk factors in patients with abortion were poor and low level of life also the age -35 40 years old(%47.44). The tubal ectopic pregnancy was the most common and the privious pelvic operation is one of the most important high risk factors for ectopic pregnancy.
