We present a method for determining intended sense definitions of a given academic word in an academic keyword list. In our approach, the keyword list are converted into unigram of all possible Mandarin translations, intended or not.The method involve converting words in the keyword list into all translations using a bilingual dictionary, computing the unigram word counts of translations, and computing character counts from the word counts. At run-time, each definition (with associated translation) of the given word is scored with word and character counts, and the definition with the highest count is returned. We present a prototype system for the Academic Keyword List to generate definitions and translation for pedagogy purposes. We also experimented with clustering definition embeddings of all words and definitions, and identifying intended sense in favor of embedding in larger clusters.Preliminary evaluation shows promising performance. This endeavor is a step towards creating a full-fledged dictionary from an academic word list.

Natural language models often fall short when understanding and generating mathematical notation. What is not clear is whether these shortcomings are due to fundamental limitations of the models, or the absence of appropriate tasks. In this paper, we explore the extent to which natural language models can learn semantics between mathematical notation and their surrounding text. We propose two notation prediction tasks, and train a model that selectively masks notation tokens and encodes left and/or right sentences as context. Compared to baseline models trained by masked language modeling, our method achieved significantly better performance at the two tasks, showing that this approach is a good first step towards modeling mathematical texts. However, the current models rarely predict unseen symbols correctly, and token-level predictions are more accurate than symbol-level predictions, indicating more work is needed to represent structural patterns. Based on the results, we suggest future works toward modeling mathematical texts.
Teaching library and information science has been under pressure in the last decades to shift and reorganize the fundamental approach to the traditional library profession to an information technology studies in the first phase and postgraduate le vels. The impact of the labour market and the introduction of ICT was clear to the ideas and concepts of traditional libraries and library studies to become more stable at universities. Such studies rely on research and respond to the requirements of university academic interests in addition to the skills and disciplines required for the labour market. Libraries and Information Department at Damascus University keeps developing the curriculum to be compatible with the rapid developments in this area.
Undergraduate academic education stage is of great importance for a student of architectural art in all its dimensions and specializations, the most important of which is architectural design, where the diverse nature of projects that are presented for him in a quest to identify most functions that human –made buildings occupy and these changes synchronized and updated the path of development and needs. Perhaps the commercial servicing buildings are the most important of these current facilities which the architectural education sector in the Faculty of architecture of the University. Because their are architectural structure that have met a distinguished attention and demand locally and internationally, to satisfy the improvement of labor market and the details of the daily modern life, in the light of the conducted methodology in teaching the "Architectural Design" course, which the research spots light on through the analysis of a group of projects that were designed by students, to evaluate its consistency with the essence of the period in follow up with the most important things that are presented in the field of architecture internationally of theories and ideas, and with the various needs of users that are identified in the contents of the project on one hand, and with the conditions and rules of building rules in the city which has imposed a current situation the research will study.
The aim of the current research is to explore the relationship between academic selfregulation and in a sample of students of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and the Faculty of Education at Damascus University, in addition to knowledge of the diff erences in both academic self-regulation and due to specialization and sex (males and females). The sample consisted of (115) male and female students with 62 students from the Faculty of Education and (53) males from the Faculty of Civil Engineering. The number of male and female students was( 59 females and 56 students. . For this purpose, the measure of academic self-regulation was used, after verifying their sincerity and persistence with the sample members of the current study. The results showed that the effect of both specialization and gender had a significant impact on academic selfregulation
