Background& Objective: Prosthodontists always do their best in order to make dentures that fulfill all the functional and esthetic requirements of the patients. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the relationship between patients’ satisfaction
with traditional complete dentures and clinical measures of denture quality, which include clinical assessment of retention, stability, support, occlusion, esthetics and speech.
Materials & Methods: 104 patients participated in our study (65 males, 39 females). The range of their ages was (40 – 78) years (median=60.9). Traditional complete dentures were made for all these patients, and then they were followed for 4-6 weeks. After that, a questionnaire was filled for each patient. This questionnaire includes questions about patient satisfaction and assessment of the new denture. The clinical measures of quality of the denture were also assessed by a prosthodontist.
Results: The results of this study showed that there was a poor significant relationship between patients’ rating of the retention of their dentures and the clinical measures of retention, stabililty and support (r<0.04). At each of the surveyed situations, the patient considered their dentures better than the examiner
did (P<0.05). There was also a poor, significant relationship between the accuracy of reproduction of
centric relation and the patient ability to masticate with his denture(r=0.27).
Conclusion: Within the limits of this study, it can be concluded that clinical measures of denture quality
affect the retention of the denture as perceived by the patient. They also affect the comfort of the patient during mastication. For that, the dentist must always do his best to make dentures with enhanced quality.
On the other hand, clinical measures of quality are not the only factor that affects the patient satisfaction with denture.
Most of prosthodontists know that patient satisfaction is not based only on the
technical quality of the dentures. For that, our study aimed to investigate the influence of some clinical
factors on patients’ satisfaction with conventional complete
dentures. These factors include: patients’
gender and age, smoking, musculature of jaws and cheeks, resorption of mandibular or maxillary residual
ridge, the existence of hypermobile tissues, and previous denture wearing experience.
This study aims toassesst patient’s satisfaction with partial dentures fixed by two
different extracoronal attachments in the mandibular of cases Kennedy class II .
It used a sample consisting of 10 patients have lost bilateral in the mandibular we
re
prepared two abutments (first and second premolar ) and compensation as follows : the
right side of the patient by rigid attachment type MKI and the left side by resilient
attachment type ASC 52 , then to assess patient’s satisfaction for each of the two types of
attachments was conducted after a month and 6 months on the use of dentures using by
scale 0 5 (0 = excellent ,1 = very good, 2 = good, 3 = middle , 4 = bad, 5 = very bad) ,
so that the assessment in terms : general satisfaction included (aesthetics, speech and
retention ), comfort , the ability to chew ,easy removal denture , deposition foods under the
removable part .
The results showed , no difference statistically significant between tow attachments
in terms of general satisfaction included (aesthetics, speech and retention) ,comfort , the
ability to chew ,easy removal denture after one month and 6 months to use the dentures
while showing difference statistically significant between tow attachments after one month
and 6 months to use the dentures , when the level significance p< 0.05 .
The aim of the research is to identify the level of patient satisfaction with the health
services provided by the governmental hospitals in the Syrian coast, whether with respect
to the doctors treating them, the nursing staff, or the level of serv
ice and organization. The
research was based on the descriptive approach and the survey method. The questionnaire
was used as the main source of data and information. The research community consisted of
patients residing in government hospitals in Latakia and Tartous, where 425 questionnaires
were distributed to patients, 400 of which were complete and valid for statistical analysis,
with a response rate of 94.12%. The research reached a number of results, the most
important of which are:
*Satisfaction of patients with doctors treated in public hospitals in the Syrian coast
is good, with a relative importance (64.684%).
*The satisfaction of patients with nursing staff in general in public hospitals in the
Syrian coast was of medium level, with a relative importance (64.556%).
*Patients' satisfaction with service and organization in general in the public hospitals
in the Syrian coast was of medium level, with relative importance (63.51%).
*Patients' satisfaction with the quality of treatment provided in public hospitals in the
