Poly(vinyl alcohol)(PVA)/cellulose acetate(CA) composite membranes were
preparedfor metal ions removal from water.
The top layer was modified by polyethylene glycol and glycerin, then irradiated with
32[J/cm2] photo dose to improve adequate selecti
vity for metal ions separation.
The flux of water increased with increasingoperating pressure, and the maximum
value of flux was 200[L/m2.h] at 4[bar] for the membrane(PVA68/PEG17/G15), but this
membrane tear after applying pressure above 4[bar], while composite and CA membranes
served for long time at pressures higher than (4[bar]).
The rejection of ions decreased as the feed water pressure increased. The maximum
percent retention of ions was found to be 97% for Pb+2, 96% for Cu+2, and 95% for Co+2at
pressure of 2[bar] in composite membrane.
To calculate the dose distributions of 6 MeV photon beam at variable depth
in 3D water phantom the MCNP4C2 code was used, and the simulated dose
profile was compared with that of the treatment planning computer system
(TPS), and a good agreement w
as found between them.
In conclusion, the MCNP4C2 code package presents a good tool adaptable
to get dose distributions for the 6MeV photon beam and it can be considered as
confirmed method for patient dose calculations.
The measurements carried out in many medical centers in the
middle region) Homs and Hama ( to estimate medical radiation
dose which patient received it resulting from some radiation
radiographic devices.
A study of the effect of electrostatic charge that is generated in actuator due to drying methods on the delivered dose of metered dose inhaler has been done in tow cases:
Washing actuator and drying it by a clothe.
Washing actuator and let it dry
alone.
A study has been done on metered dose inhaler containing salbutmaol sulfate and manufactured by a local company.
The results show the importance of drying methods on the delivered dose, the delivered doses of metered dose inhaler after washing the actuator and dry it by a clothe hadn't been achieved the USP-34 requirements (out of range 75-125%), while the delivered doses after washing actuator and let it dry alone had been achieved the USP-34 requirements.
The difference in results between the two cases belong to electrostatic charge generated in actuator due to drying methods
Using the Mont Carlo code (MCNP4C2), doses were calculated for organs of
interest such as intestine, urinary bladder, rectum, vagina uterus, pancreas,
spleen, liver, spinal cord and kidneys while patient was undergoing cervix
brachytherapy by LDR
instrument (Cs-137).
This experiment was conducted at the Faculty of Agriculture, Damascus
University (2001 – 2002), to assess the effect of radiostimulation of seeds of two
durum wheat varieties (Hourani and Cham 3) on some morphological traits
and yield components,
by using three doses of gamma rays (10, 15, and 20 GY).
The study showed significant differences among radiation doses. The high
doses (15, 20 GY) caused a significant deterioration in growth and development
of plants, as well as yield components of the two varieties.
