Structural Frame system is considers as an earthquake resisting structural systems. On the other hand, many techniques were used to improve the resistance against lateral loads. where Steel Plate Shear Wall fixed within frame span is one of those techniques. This research aims to develop the Strip model of Partial Steel Plate Shear Walls with Reinforced-Concrete Frame with opening parallel to beams.
Frame structuressystems contribute to resist the seismic loads. And there are many techniques used to improve the resistance to lateral loads where steel shear walls, which is embedded within the Frame span, are considered to be one of these ways. This research aims to study the effect of strengthening of the reinforced concrete frames by inserting partial steel plate shear walls, the opening is parallel to beams, embedded within the frame. This study applied numerical analysis using Finite Element Method (FEM) using nonlinear pushover analysis based on geometrical and Material Non- Linear Analysis (GMNLA). Using these methods allow us to study the behavior of the Partial steel plate that seal the whole span of the reinforced concrete frame with opening parallel to beams against lateral loads. This study conclude that using a partial steel plate shear wall, with opening parallel to beams with reinforced- concrete frames can enhance the resistanceand the seismic energy dissipation significantly.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the reliability of a single malleable noncommpression titanium miniplate in fixation and stability of fractures of the mandibular angle using two approaches(.transbuccal and intra-oral approach, or intra-or ally alone) . The research sample included 20 patients from patients who attended AL Assad University Hospital with Unilateral or bilateralun-comminuted mandibular angle fractures in the period between September 2011 and October 2013. The research sample was divided into two groups depending on the two approaches that have been used . Adequacy of the reduction and stability of fixation were evaluated through Radiographic examinations immediately after surgery. Postoperative assessment was based on clinical examination after 1 month, 6 monthes and a year to evaluate: Occlusion, Masticatory efficiency, Maximum mouth opening range, and Other complications(infection –mini-plate exposure). The results of the present study showed that there were statistical difference between the two approaches(transbuccal and intra-oral approach, or intra-orally alone) regarding Occlusion, Masticatory efficiency and Other complications after 1 and 6 months while there was no statistical difference between the approaches after 1 year . we Concluded that using the combined transbuccal/oral approach was the best regarding(infection and mini-plate exposure) and compared with intra-oral approach .
Background& Objective: the early surgical intervention for neurological caludication cases which are often caused by severe degenerative lumbar canal stenosis gives excellent results especially on near term. To confirm that early surgical interventi on, early timing for severe lumbar canal stenosis which caused signs and symptoms of neurological claudication, can yield excellent functional and motor results for patient and it returns thim to good life activity. Materials & Methods: This study was done retrospectively for neurological caludication cases in elderly patients admitted to neurosurgery department at Al-assad university hospital in the period between 2007– 2010 year. (53) Patients underwent posterior laminectomy, with or without vertebral fixation accompanied. Results: The direct improvement of the surgery was 75 % for neurological claudication and 79% after one year of surgery. Radical pain accompanied with neurological clauication improved fully in 66 % directly after surgery, up 75 % after one year. The sensory symptoms were low grade improvement, which was about 56% partial improvement directly after surgery and fully in 34%up to 28% – 66%after one year of surgery. The complications were few and mild in (11 %). Conclusion: Early surgical intervention to all cases of neurological claudication especially in the elderly gives magnificent results (motor & sensory) with good functional activity improvement in comparison to conservative therapy.
Frame structures contribute to resist the seismic loads. On the other hand, many techniques were used to improve the resistance against lateral loads where steel shear walls are considered to be one of these ways. This research aims to study the eff ect of strengthening of the reinforced concrete frames inserting perforated steel plate shear walls embedded within the frame. This study applied numerical analysis using Finite Element Method (FEM) using nonlinear pushover analysis based on geometrically and Materially Non-Linear Analysis (GMNLA) was performed. To study the behavior of the steel plate that seal the hall span of the reinforced concrete frame against lateral loads. Moreover, perforated steel plate was studied taking under consideration the effect of the number and the area of the perforations and strengthening of the perforations circumference on the resistance was observed. This study conclude that using a perforated steel plate shear wall with reinforced- concrete frames and strengthening of the perforations circumference can enhance the resistance significantly beside that it decrease the frame deflection.
