This study was conducted at the of field research station Sianow belong to the General Commission for Scientific Agricultural Research at Lattakia, to evaluate the susceptibility of maize hybrids produced by using half Diallel the cross according to
the design ofrandomized completeblocks (R.C.B.D), under industrial infection by large corn stem borer Sesamia cretica. Hybrids were compared with the control (Ghouta- 82). The hybrid (P1 × P2) Showed positive and highly significantheterosis for Ear diameter and tolerance forlarge corn stem borer compared with the average of the parents and the best parents and the check (Ghouta- 82). The hybrid (P2 × P6) showed positive and highly significant heterosis for the number of kernels per row compared with the average of the parents and the best parents and the check (Ghouta- 82). Also the hybrid (P1 × P6) showed positive and highly significant heterosis for the number of kernels per row relative to the average of the parents and the best parents and the check (Ghouta- 82). hybrid (P4 × P6) showed positive and highly significant heterosis for the recipe grain yield compared with the average of the parents and the best parents and the check (Ghouta- 82). The hybrid(P5 × P6) also showed positive and highly significant heterosis for the Percentage of dead hearts of the developing summit compared with the average of the parents and the best parents, and compared with the check (Ghouta- 82), therefore it can be considered as a sensitive hybrid.
This research was carried out at a special farm at Balghounis - Banias during the
agricultural season 2013/14 to study the of effect plant density and variety and the
interaction between them on some productivity characteristics of faba bean plant.
Two
faba bean varieties were used : Balady (local variety) and Italian Super Simonia (new
variety in Syria). Five densities (20, 10, 6.67, 5, 4) plants/m2 were studied. A split plot
design with three replications was used, in which varieties were assigned to main plots and
densities to sub plots. The GenStat 12 program was used for statistical analyses.
The results indicated that Balady variety significantly surpasses the Italian one in
plant height during maturity stage. Also Balady variety showed a significant increase
compared to Italian variety in number of branches/plant, number of pods/plant and 100-
seed weight. On the other hand, Italian variety significantly surpasses the Balady one in
number of seeds/pod and seed yield, and it showed a significant increase compared to
Balady variety in seed weight per plant. Increasing of plant density led to an increase of
plant height and a decrease of number of branches/ plant, number of pods/plant and
number of seeds/pod. Decreasing of plant density led to decrease of 100-seed weight and
seed yield.
This search was conducted during 2014-2015 growing season in Agricultural
research station in Al Kraeim belonging to Al Salameah district in Hamah Provence in
order to study the effect of plant density on; First, the phenological stages of lentil p
lant
calculated in day unit. Second, the seed productivity in a lentil plant calculated in g/plant,
and then seed production in Hectares (Kg/ha-1).Lastly, percentage of seed protein content
in seeds. In this study, three plant densities were used (200, 250, 300 seeds/m2, and was
designed using Randomized Sectors in three replicates for each density. Results showed
that;
1) The low density plants (200 seeds/m2) was significantly better than other
densities (250 and 300 seeds/m2) in:
Reaching 50% seed germination (19.4, 20.5 and 22.5 day continually) and in
flowering stage (111.36, 113.6 and 114.7 day continually) and in maturation/Ripening
stage (134.4, 136.6 and 137.7 day continually).
Seed production per plant (1.553g/plant) in comparison by seed production of
other densities (1.487 and1.376 g/plant).
Percentage of seed protein (26.8%) in comparison by seed protein of other
densities (26.3 and 26.19 %).
2) The higher densities (300 seeds/m2) was better in seed production in aria unit
(1791.3 Kg/ha-1) in comparison by production of other densities (1492.7 and 1194.2 Kg/
ha-1).
