The aim of this work is the preparation of a biodegradable polymeric blend (LDPE/AD+S) to be used for eco-friendly packaging purposes. The polymer matrix consists mainly of low density polyethylene( LDPE), starch (S), and low quantities of additives (AD) as compatibilizers. The additives are: maleic acid, acetic acid, benzoyl peroxide, and zinc stearate. The polymer blend LDPE/AD+S was prepared by extrusion, in three compositions according to the percentage of starch (15,20,40%). Then, films were prepared from the blend by thermal hydraulic compression to study their microstructure by optical microscopic at magnification of 055 The results showed that the starch granules were homogeneously distributed within the polymer matrix, and the compatibility additives played an important role in enhancing the microstructure of the prepared blends. The results also indicate that the starch promotes the onset of the bioegradation process.

This research aims to study the effect of adding Zinc Borate and Aluminum Hydroxide as flame retardants to Low Density polyethylene. Specimens have been prepared through pouring them in a mold. Results have revealed that replacement of certain am ount of Aluminum Hydroxide with Zinc Borate could lead to improving the resistance of flame spread in Low Density polyethylene. these improvements were basically due to further contribution of Zinc Borate to the physical barrier mechanism of Aluminum Hydroxide in both gas and solid phases.
In the present work, the rheological and mechanical properties of polypropylene /thermoplastic starch (PP/TPS) and acrylonitril-butadienestyrene/ thermoplastic starch (ABS/TPS) blends were investigated. Starch was plasticized using glycerol, and b lends were prepared using a laboratory scale with single screw extruder. Rheological properties of the prepared blends were determined using a capillary rheometer. Mechanical properties were studied in term of tensile tests, stress at break, strain at break and Young's modulus were determined.

هدفَ البحث إلى كشف احتمال حدوث هجرة متعاكسة بين المواد المضافة إلى البولي إيثيلـين عـالي الكثافة المستخدم في صناعة عبوات تعبئة زيت الزيتون البكر و الزيت المعبـأ، و قـد صـممت التجربـة بالاعتماد على حبيبات البولي إيثيلين من جهة للحصول على أعلى سطح تم اس ممكن بزيـت الزيتـون، و باستخدام نوعين منها أحدها أبيض اللون و الثاني أحمر، كما درس تأثير كل من زمـن التمـاس بـين الحبيبات و الزيت و زمن تخزين الزيت من جهة أخرى. و لتحديد ما يجري فعلاً عند تخـزين الزيـت فـي العبوات البلاستيكية بأبسط الطرائق، درس كل من رقم الحموضة، و رقم البيروكسيد، و لزوجـة الزيـت، و كشف وجود مركبات الدايينات المهاجرة على موجة امتصاص UV)232nm) ، فضلاً عن دراسة العـد الكلي للأحياء الدقيقة (لكشف احتمال وجود مثبطات نمو)، و الاختبارات الحسية. كما قيست إمكانية حدوث هجرة للزيت إلى حبيبات البولي إيثيلين.
