The recent situation in Syria requires the creation of new housing units models take into account the functional, architectural, and safe requirements, in addition to specialty of local and living conditions. The created models must achieve family protection, time gaining, using local materials, ability of transporting, reselling, rapid construction, and supporting reconstruction plans. This paper introduces, for the first time in Syria the study, design, fabricating, and erecting of tow-story precast structure composed of reinforced concrete slabs and walls, and light-weight steel structure fully connected by bolts. This structure was designed and implemented in a way that enables producing varied and multi functional house units achieving safety and functional conditions, and rapid construction and reconstruction requirements. The study was introduced by the authors and it was implemented in the General Company of construction in Lattakia. New production lines of housing units were created from scratch by consulting contract between Tishreen University (the authors) and General Company of construction. In less than one year four housing units were designed and produced:1- tow-story continuous building, 2-disaster housing unit, 3- general marketing unit, 4- school unit. These units achieve all above mentioned requirements.
Our subject contains studying criterions which ensuring a durable serving of concrete frame joints, and then choosing two connections according to its deployment and the availability of its arithmetic relations and easy to be prepared from local ma terials, and discuss experimental results of the resent study which allow us to achieve the next part of our research, which is a structural designing programme by visual basic language to serve the work in order to be fast and precise. the last part of the subject is comprising a number of actualizations which confirm that the process of programming is correct, and then compare the results of experimental programs and code with our programme results to achieve many important ameliorations on this programme to become more easily and better.
The aim of this study is improving the durability of precast products of Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete (GRC) and in the context of sustainability applications, reduction of cement consumption and replacement of it with green materials. This study has been done to test the role of the natural pozzolan from Shihan Hill in As Suwayda as supplementary cementing material by 10% -15% -20% - 25%, and to determine the effect of it on the consistency and flexure strength over 180 days, as well as to test its role in improving the micro-structure of the mixture by reducing the content of Ca(OH)2 and increasing C-S-H & C-A-S-H gel, which were tested using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and Energy Dispersive X-Ray (EDX) techniques, and as a result reduced the erosion of fibers as shown in images by Scanning Electronic Electron Microscopy (SEM). Moreover the role of pozzolana has been studied in controlling the degradation of the material over time which tested by immersion in hot water 50° for 150 days and by drying – wetting cycles. Also the effect of pozzolana on absorption, porosity and resistance of sulfates attacks was studied. The results have shown that the used natural pozzolana has no negative effect on consistency or mechanical properties, and it improved all the studied durability factors.
Frame structures contribute to resist the seismic loads. On the other hand, many techniques were used to improve the resistance against lateral loads where steel shear walls are considered to be one of these ways. This research aims to study the eff ect of strengthening of the reinforced concrete frames inserting perforated steel plate shear walls embedded within the frame. This study applied numerical analysis using Finite Element Method (FEM) using nonlinear pushover analysis based on geometrically and Materially Non-Linear Analysis (GMNLA) was performed. To study the behavior of the steel plate that seal the hall span of the reinforced concrete frame against lateral loads. Moreover, perforated steel plate was studied taking under consideration the effect of the number and the area of the perforations and strengthening of the perforations circumference on the resistance was observed. This study conclude that using a perforated steel plate shear wall with reinforced- concrete frames and strengthening of the perforations circumference can enhance the resistance significantly beside that it decrease the frame deflection.
