A study for tribe Coccinellini (Coccinellidae, Coeloptera) was conducted in south of Syria. The objective of this study was to determine the species and their relative abundance. Members of this tribe important for biological control because they are primariy predators on aphids. The adults Coccinellids were collected from agriclture and natural ecosystems from August 2001 the end of July 2003. The results revealed the presence of 10 species belonging to 8 genera. The investigation included their abundance and distribution in south of Syria. The species Anisosticta novemdecimpunctata (L.) was recorded in Syria for the first time. The Adonis ladybird, Hippodamia (Adonia) variegata (Goeze), was the commonest species. and the most abundant ones were H. variegata (Goeze) 44.9%, Oenopia conglobata (L.) 27.7% and Coccinella septempunctata L. 10.5%.
Since the beginning of the twentieth century, researchers have isolated and dentified spreaded and adapted yeasts to variow environmental conditions and the types of the mediums in which they graw. The industrial features of the isolated genera, e specially those used in the food processing and the stability of their genetic characteristics were studied. Yeasts in medical and industrial fields were also improved.
Primary survey study of the Bryidae has been reported in this research, whithin range of Biodiversity and Ecodiversity in Syria. We found ٢٩ species, which has been identified, and defined their distribution in different places in the north and so uth of the country, also the identification of the most important peristome as a scales of classification, the nature of growth substrates, has been investigated. Three of these Bryidae recorded for first time which is: Tortella tortuosa, Grimmia laevigata, Bryum caespiticium.
The concentrations of Copper (Cu) and Zinc (Zn) in samples of some spices available at some local markets in Syria were determined, after nitric digestion, using Atomic Absorption Spectrometry. The study showed differences in metal concentrations according to the edible part. Studied heavy metals were present in all samples at different levels. The concentration of Copper (Cu) and Zinc varied from trace to higher concentration. The maximum level of Copper (Cu) in the spices samples was 0.668 mg/kg. The maximum level of Zinc (Zn) in the spices samples was 2.523mg/kg. The analytical results obtained for the heavy metals indicate that the Copper and Zinc were present in all samples at concentration well below the acceptable daily intake recommended by the World Health Organization.
