Farmers Participation in the Extension Activities (Field Study in Rural Aleppo and Edleb Governorate)

نفذ البحث في المنطقة الشمالية من سورية (ريف محافظتي حلب و ادلب) عام 2008 من خلال عينـة عشوائية منتظمة شملت 39 وحدة ارشاية بنسبة (22 %) من الوحدات الإرشادية في المنطقة المدروسة، و عشرة مزارعين من كل وحدة مستهدفة، فكان حجم العينة (390) مبحوثاً. هدف البحث إلى معرفة مدى مشاركة المزارعين في النشاطات الإرشادية التي ينفذها الإرشاد الزراعي و رصد آرائهم بهذه النـشاطات. أظهرت النتائج ارتفاع نسبة المزارعين المشاركين بالنشاطات الإرشادية بشكلٍ متقطّع إلى نحـو (56%) كما أفاد (32%) من المبحوثين رغبتهم بنشاطات الأيام الحقلية، و نحو (21 %) يرغبون أن يكون النشاط بطريقة البيان العملي، و يرغب (5.20 %) من المبحوثين أن يكون النشاط عبارة عن نقاش مع المرشدين ضمن مجموعات فلاحية، في حين انخفضت نسبة المبحوثين الذين يفضلون الندوات، و عروض الفيـديو، و المسرح الزراعي الجوال، كما أفاد (3.33 %) من المبحوثين رغبتهم بالنـشاطات الإرشـادية المتعلقـة بطرائق وقاية المزروعات، و أكثر من ربع العينة يرغبون نشاطات حول طرائق الري الحديثـة، و اقتـرح (5.30 %) من المبحوثين زيادة عدد النشاطات الإرشادية، ثم حـاجتهم إلـى طرائـق أفـضل لإعلامهـم بالأنشطة الإرشادية قبل تنفيذها (26 %) و ذكر (25 %) منهم حاجتهم إلى مرشدين زراعيين أكثـر، كمـا و أفاد (5.18 %) من المبحوثين حاجتهم إلى نشاطات إرشادية أفضل في مجال تسويق المنتجات الزراعية و طرائق الفرز و التوضيب و التخزين، كما أظهرت الدراسة وجود علاقة إيجابية و معنوية بين كل من حجم الأسرة و مساحة الحيازة، و المهنة الرئيسية مع المشاركة في النشاطات الإرشادية التي ينفـذها الإرشـاد الزراعي.

The study was conducted in the north of Syria (Rural Aleppo and Edleb Governorates)in 2008 through Regular random sample covered 39 extension units which consists of 22% of the total extension units in the study area .Ten farmers from each selected unit were taken to form the sample size of 390 respondents. The objective of this research is to find out the extent of farmers participation in extension activities that executed by the agricultural extension and their opinions in these activities. The result showed that 56% of farmers participated irregularly in the extension activities, 32%, 20% and 20.5% of respondents prefer field days, demonstration and group discussion, respectively. Low percentage of farmers prefer seminar, video show and mobile theater. Preference of extension activities on plant protection mentioned by 33.3% of respondents and extension activities on new irrigation method preferred by quarter of respondents. The main suggestions mentioned by respondents were to increase the total number of extension activities 30.5%, the need for better method to inform farmers about the extension activities 26%, the need to increase the total number of extension workers in the area (25%), more extension activities on marketing, sorting and grading of agricultural products. The study showed positive and significant relationship between family size, size of holding and occupation on one side and participation in extension activities executed by Agricultural Extension on the other side.
