The current situation of the Arab countries acceding to the Great Arab Free Trade
Area after several years to complete liberalization of fees and customs restrictions between
them, requires paying great attention to measuring the effectiveness of c
ommercial
interfaces between these states and to know the real situation of the nature and
effectiveness of intra-trade among themselves, especially since the figures available about
this often lead to misleading results.
Based on the above-mentioned discussion comes the necessity this study of trade
exchange between Syria and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Arab, as these countries
are the most important in the context of the Great Arab Free Trade Area. This study also
focuses on measuring the effectiveness of commercial interfaces between them, reflecting
the extent of inclusiveness in trade relations and their spread between these countries,
exceeding the misleading figures about the nature of intra-trade among these countries.
There is no doubt that the accession of the Syrian Arab Republic to
the World Trade Organization will limit the isolation that
accompanied the Syrian economy due to the embargo and sanctions
that led to the damage of its capabilities and competiti
veness, as well
as the widening gap between the Syrian national economy and the
rapid developments of the global economy. And due to the
advantages of this accession, there are many consequences which
affect the economic and legal system of each state seeking to join
that organization; raising a variety of proposals due to this joining
and its consequences, and whether the decision to join this
organization can be considered a selection or an inevitable which
embodies the position of the State regarding the accession and its
conformity to the features offered by that organization.

تعد منظمة التجارة العالمية دعامة أساسية من دعائم النظام الاقتصادي العالمي المعاصر، و هي
من حيث أهدافها و اتفاقياتها تفرض على العالم آليات تعامل اقتصادي جديد، يختلف بشكل جوهري
عما هو سائد الآن، و هو ما شكل مادة أساسية لمحور بحثنا الأول.

ثنا الثاني و الثالث بينا أن واحدًا من أهم القطاعات الاقتصادية المتوقع تأثره بأحكام
اتفاقيات المنظمة هو قطاع العمل، و نحن في سورية نمتلك سوقًا واسعة و واعدة لهذه السلعة،
و هذا ما استدعى منا القيام بدراسة تحليلية لهذه السوق أُشِير فيها إلى جملة الخصائص الكمية
و النوعية لقوة العمل لدينا، و خلال فترة طويلة من الزمن، حيث تم رصد التطور الكبير في نوعية
المعروض من سلعة قوة العمل لدينا.
بعد ذلك عملنا على رصد الآثار المتوقعة في سوق العمل في الجمهورية العربية السورية في حال
انضمامها إلى المنظمة المذكورة؛ حيث توصلنا إلى عدد من النتائج التي تسلط الضوء على هذا
الموضوع مما يفيد برأينا في حال التعامل معها، التقليل من سلبيات عملية الانضمام و يزيد من
إيجابياته.
This paper aims at presenting an analysis of the inter-Arab trade
situation in order to assess the role of the implementation of
GAFTA in activating and developing it. Moreover, the research
will attempt to specify some challenges and restrictions
that face
the development of inter-Arab trade in the region.
