This research is a clinical survey of trauma cases that have presented to Damascus University, Pediatric dental clinic, postgraduate studies. The research studies have following objectives: A survey was preformed of the trauma cases that presented to our clinic, tables of the different classifications of fractures were prepared, total number of cases presented, distribution according to several factors, treatments offered to the patients and their success rates.
Cysts are more frequent in jaws comparing to other body bones, although their treatment is simple and depends on surgical approach as a first choice, still they are important due to their clinical complication. The aim of this retrospective study is to determine the percentage of radicular, dentigerous, odontogenic keratocysts and non-odontogenic cysts percentage in Damascus, Syria, and comparing these results with previously recorded records from other countries.
Background& Objective: The purpose of this study is to compare the anterior tooth size width in patients with congenitally missing maxillary lateral incisors with the normal width size of the Syrian.
Aims of study: 1-To determine the prevalence and 2- the pattern of hypodontia in the permanent dentition in a sample of Syrian orthodontic patients who sought orthodontic treatment. Materials and Methods: The orthodontic records of 623 patients ag ed 12 to 34, who sought orthodontic treatment in the Department of Orthodontics, Dental faculty/Damascus University, during the last three years (2011-2014), were investigated to establish the prevalence of patients with one or more permanent missing teeth. Results: 1-The prevalence of hypodontia was 7.10% of the studied sample (7.49% in females, and 6.35% in males). Males were less affected than females with a ratio of 1:1.18 with no significant differences between genders (P = 0.063). 2-The most common missing tooth was maxillary lateral incisor (56.52%), the least common missing tooth was maxillary first molar (0.87%). Missing in the maxillary jaw was significantly more frequent than the mandible (P=0.041( with significantly more anterior teeth missing than posterior teeth (P=0.009). Conclusions: The prevalence of hypodontia showed in this study was within the range published in the literature. The patterns are similar to most reported patterns in the literature.
The aim of this study was to investigate the role of teeth sizes and its relationship with the development of buccal ectopia for maxillary canines،that could contribute to the aetiology of canines ectopia ,between males and females in the sample o f Syrian society. The study models have been obtained, the mesiodistal width was measured for all upper and lower teeth except of second and third molars by using electronic caliper, data collected then analyzed and got results.
