Radical cystectomy is the most effective therapeutic approach for patients with muscle-invasive bladder cancer. Due to the incidence of sexual and continence complications associated with this procedure, alternative techniques such as cystectomy wi th partial prostatectomy have been described in selected cases in order to reduce complications. To evaluate the possible oncological risks of prostate-sparing cystectomy, and to determine the associated pathological findings in the prostate for patients with invasive bladder cancer treated by radical cystoprostatectomy.
The primary goal of any surgery for cholesteatoma is complete eradication of this lesion aiming to reach a dry ear and to prevent the complications and recurrence. The second goal is to preserve hearing or to improve it. This study aims to discuss cases of Cholesteatoma treated by canal wall-up mastoidectomy (Closed technique) and to determine the efficacy of this technique by studying the recurrence rates and hearing results.
Aim: To evaluate and compare the rate of cholesteatoma recurrence after Atticotomy surgery to that after Canal Wall Up Mastoidectomy (CWU). Material and Methods: The study involved 57 patients admitted to the ENT Department Almoassat Hospital. A tticotomy was performed in 30 cases, whilst CWU mastoidectomy within 27 cases. Follow up period was extended for two years to compare the symptoms and the necessity for second Ossiculoplasty surgery. Results: The recurrence rate was 23.33 % within atticotomy group, whilst it was 22.21 % in CWU group. CWU mastoidectomy showed better outputs in diffused cholesteatoma cases. Conclusion: A limited cystic cholesteatoma can be treated effectively by atticotomy, however CWU mastoidectomy remains the favorable technique to manage a diffused cholesteatoma.
Coarctation represents 5-8% of congenital heart disease. We present here a study which aimed to assess the results of this malformation correction by using left subclavian artery flap aortoplasty technique(Waldhausen) and compare these results with those of other surgical options.
Our study included (84) patients: 86 cases suffering from chronic osteomyelitis: various causes, location and degrees. All patients operated: after curettage of necrotic and infected tissues; system of continuous irrigation with antibiotics was in serted to the infected zone; all cases were followed up for 1 year. 86% of positive results were obtained and results were bad in 14% of cases> The high positive results (86%) confirm high effect of continuous irrigation with antibiotics as a good method for chronic osteomyelitis treatment, because this method allows delivery of suitable antibiotics in high concentration into the infected area, which is enough to kill microbes and allows to obtain best results.
