تُعرض في هذا البحث الدراسة التجريبية عن تأثير أبعاد فتحة التفريغ في شكل جريان المواد الحبيبية داخل الصومعة، و كذلك في الضغط الأفقي الناتج على جدار هذه الصومعة، إِذ أجرِيت التجارب على صومعة اسطوانية معدنية ذات قاعدة أفقية، و استعملت الذرة العلفية بوصفها مادةً حبيبية، و روقب الجريان بأخذ منصف من البلكس غلاس يمر من مركز الصومعة و يقسمها إلى نصفين، في حين أن الضغط قيس لصومعة كاملة و على عدة نقاط على كامل ارتفاع الصومعة، و قد أظهرت القياسات أن الضغط الأفقي المطبق على جدار الصومعة لا يتأثر تأثراً كبيراً نتيجة تغيير أبعاد فتحة التفريغ.
