We present a tagset for the annotation of quantification which we currently use to annotate certain quantified statements in fictional works of literature. Literary texts feature a rich variety in expressing quantification, including a broad range of lexemes to express quantifiers and complex sentence structures to express the restrictor and the nuclear scope of a quantification. Our tagset consists of seven tags and covers all types of quantification that occur in natural language, including vague quantification and generic quantification. In the second part of the paper, we introduce our German corpus with annotations of generalising statements, which form a proper subset of quantified statements.

The paper reports the results of a translationese study of literary texts based on translated and non-translated Russian. We aim to find out if translations deviate from non-translated literary texts, and if the established differences can be attribu ted to typological relations between source and target languages. We expect that literary translations from typologically distant languages should exhibit more translationese, and the fingerprints of individual source languages (and their families) are traceable in translations. We explore linguistic properties that distinguish non-translated Russian literature from translations into Russian. Our results show that non-translated fiction is different from translations to the degree that these two language varieties can be automatically classified. As expected, language typology is reflected in translations of literary texts. We identified features that point to linguistic specificity of Russian non-translated literature and to shining-through effects. Some of translationese features cut across all language pairs, while others are characteristic of literary translations from languages belonging to specific language families.
In recent years several corpora have been developed for vision and language tasks. With this paper, we intend to start a discussion on the annotation of referential phenomena in situated dialogue. We argue that there is still significant room for cor pora that increase the complexity of both visual and linguistic domains and which capture different varieties of perceptual and conversational contexts. In addition, a rich annotation scheme covering a broad range of referential phenomena and compatible with the textual task of coreference resolution is necessary in order to take the most advantage of these corpora. Consequently, there are several open questions regarding the semantics of reference and annotation, and the extent to which standard textual coreference accounts for the situated dialogue genre. Working with two corpora on situated dialogue, we present our extension to the ARRAU (Uryupina et al., 2020) annotation scheme in order to start this discussion.
In our research we offer detailed study of one of the data mining functions within the text data using the object properties in databases. It studies the possibility of applying this function on the Arabic texts. We use procedural query language P L / SQL that deals with the object of Oracle databases. Data mining model Has been built. It works on classification of Arabic texts documents using SVM algorithm for indexing of texts and texts preparation, Naïve Bayes algorithm to classify data after transformation it into nested tables. So we made an evaluation of the obtained results and conclusions.
We study the problem of Cross-lingual Event Argument Extraction (CEAE). The task aims to predict argument roles of entity mentions for events in text, whose language is different from the language that a predictive model has been trained on. Previous work on CEAE has shown the cross-lingual benefits of universal dependency trees in capturing shared syntactic structures of sentences across languages. In particular, this work exploits the existence of the syntactic connections between the words in the dependency trees as the anchor knowledge to transfer the representation learning across languages for CEAE models (i.e., via graph convolutional neural networks -- GCNs). In this paper, we introduce two novel sources of language-independent information for CEAE models based on the semantic similarity and the universal dependency relations of the word pairs in different languages. We propose to use the two sources of information to produce shared sentence structures to bridge the gap between languages and improve the cross-lingual performance of the CEAE models. Extensive experiments are conducted with Arabic, Chinese, and English to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method for CEAE.
