This study was carried out to evaluate the
influence of a mixture of doxycycline HCl, citric acid, and
polysorbate 80 (MTAD) on the smear layer formed on root surface
after hand-instrumented periodontal treatment. MTAD was
compared with the influence of tetracycline HCl.
Experiment was conducted on 160 fertilized egg sterile, distributed
in four groups of 40 eggs in each of them, eggs incubation in the
hatchery for 12 h, and then go out and inject eggs experimental
Groups (1-2-3) with a solution of tetracycline under the embryo disk.
This clinical study included 30 cases of impacted lower third molars, which were
surgically extracted at the oral surgery department at Tishreen University in Lattakia. The
ages of patients were between 20 - 30 years. The aim of this study was to e
valuate the
effect of alveolar rinse with Tetracycline and Articaine mixture on pain, edema, and
trismus after surgical extraction of impacted lower third molars.
The sample was divided into two groups:
- First Group (Study Group): /16/ impacted lower third molars were surgically
extracted. The alveolar socket was rinsed with Tetracycline and Articaine mixture
immediately after removal of the impacted molar.
- Second Group (Control Group): /14/ impacted lower third molars were surgically
extracted. The alveolar socket was rinsed with Saline immediately after removal of the
impacted molar.
The study showed that alveolar rinse with Tetracycline and Articaine mixture had a
significant effect on pain, edema, and trismus after surgical extraction of lower third
molars in comparison with Saline alveolar rinse (P<0.05).
Pephigus vulgaris is a recurrent life threatening disease. Its basic treatment is
systemic steroids, after treating the first attack of the disease by systemic steroids we start to reduce the
dose of the steroids gradually. During this reduction th
e desease may flare up, this recurrence is routinely
treated by increasing the dose of the steroids again to control the disease, this study was made to compare
the benefits of tetracycline in controlling the recurrence of pemphigus vulgaris with the routinely used
way which is elevating the dose of prednisolone.
