Slow emerging topic detection is a task between event detection, where we aggregate behaviors of different words on short period of time, and language evolution, where we monitor their long term evolution. In this work, we tackle the problem of early
detection of slowly emerging new topics. To this end, we gather evidence of weak signals at the word level. We propose to monitor the behavior of words representation in an embedding space and use one of its geometrical properties to characterize the emergence of topics. As evaluation is typically hard for this kind of task, we present a framework for quantitative evaluation and show positive results that outperform state-of-the-art methods. Our method is evaluated on two public datasets of press and scientific articles.
The paper describes a system for automatic summarization in English language of online news data that come from different non-English languages. The system is designed to be used in production environment for media monitoring. Automatic summarization
can be very helpful in this domain when applied as a helper tool for journalists so that they can review just the important information from the news channels. However, like every software solution, the automatic summarization needs performance monitoring and assured safe environment for the clients. In media monitoring environment the most problematic features to be addressed are: the copyright issues, the factual consistency, the style of the text and the ethical norms in journalism. Thus, the main contribution of our present work is that the above mentioned characteristics are successfully monitored in neural automatic summarization models and improved with the help of validation, fact-preserving and fact-checking procedures.
This papers presents a platform for monitoring press narratives with respect to several social challenges, including gender equality, migrations and minority languages. As narratives are encoded in natural language, we have to use natural processing
techniques to automate their analysis. Thus, crawled news are processed by means of several NLP modules, including named entity recognition, keyword extraction,document classification for social challenge detection, and sentiment analysis. A Flask powered interface provides data visualization for a user-based analysis of the data. This paper presents the architecture of the system and describes in detail its different components. Evaluation is provided for the modules related to extraction and classification of information regarding social challenges.

In this work ,we try to predict the disadvantages will be caused by active suspension
system on indirect tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS) which rely on analysis either
rotational speed signals of wheels or vehicle body vibration signals.
Ac
tive suspension systems that aim to increase passengers comfort apply some
additional vertical loads on vehicle's wheels which may cause difference in its rotational
speed due to the resulting load difference. also it may change the vibration level of the
vehicle during driving so the usage of vibration signals for monitoring tire pressure could
be difficult or impossible . in both cases the performance of TPMS may be changed.
This study showed that TPMS which rely on rotational speed signals will still able
to work and the effects of active suspension system will confine on the quality of the
resulting warnings while the TPMS which depend on vibration analysis will conk if the
analyzed vibration data was the vertical acceleration signals of wheels .
Climate change is the major global challenge facing water resources managers
because of its impacts on many life fields beginning with agriculture activities to economic
- social regions. In this study, drought in the eastern north of Syria have be
en investigated
(Hasake, Rakka, DerAzzor, Bokmal, Kameshli) using a set of data containing precipitation
data for period from 2000 to 2010, and MODIS time series images for the same period.
This study assure that 2008/2009 described as drought period in the study area, and the
NDVI maps ,which we have, give us an idea about the vegetation status and patterns in the
study area. The study clearly show that NDVI and rainfall was found to be highly
correlated in Rakka with P- Value= 0.003; and medium correlated in the other stations with
P- Value > 0.05.
Results of this study verify needing to use this index (NDVI), along with
precipitation data, in drought monitoring in the eastern north region of Syria. So that,. It
would help managers in making decisions to face drought in this area.
The chromatic dispersion of fiber is a major factor
causing distortion of the light signals, and if not being
addressed using accurate compensators it will lead to a
significant deterioration in the performance of optical system.
The value of chr
omatic dispersion is not fixed along the fiber,
and this necessitates the use of tunable dispersion
compensators which need information about the value of
dispersion which is done by dispersion monitoring.
This research is Interested in analyzing chromatic
dispersion technique based on the measuring of clock tone
power of transmitted data and which is commensurate with
the dispersion of the fiber. We found the relationship between
signal frequency with range and accuracy of measurement.
Also, the advantage of this technique to provide feedback
signal to tunable dispersion compensator. The results show
the extent of the improvement made in network performance.

lswitch are filter feeders Brachidontes varibilis. Samples had been collected from Lattakia coast.
The results showed a great efficiency of the made network for monitoring the organic pollution in marine environment. It has been recorded a concentration of DDTs is accumulated lower than 2ng/g , Endosulfane and HCB is lower than 1 ng/g too.
