Fibre optics have greatly developed over the past decades, making it usable in wired communication systems. It has many advantages such as:  High channel capacity.  Interference immunity.  Low loss.  Security & Immune to intrusion. That’s why it became so popular in different types of usage. This article discusses the security of fibre optics, proposes an intrusion detection system able to detect different intrusion techniques, and specifies the intrusion point depending on modes and optical powers.

With the recent advances in the field of network security, a technique called Intrusion Detection System IDS is developed to further enhance and make network secure. It is a way by which we can protect our internal network from outside attack, and can take appropriate action if needed. Using intrusion detection methods, information can be collected from known types of attack and can be used to detect if someone is trying to attack the network. Many techniques are there to detect intrusion in a network like signature matching, anomaly based and others. The work presented here studies and compares the techniques used by intrusion detection systems, and focuses on the signature matching technique. It discusses the open source, free intrusion detection system Snort. Another open source intrusion detection system Bro is also discussed. It compares these systems alarms against the open source tool IDSWakeup.
The aim of this paper is to determine the best optical-probe geometry that would help to detect neoplastic lesions in oral epithelial tissue. Two Geometrical configurations are investigated. The first one implements different distances between the illumination and collection fibers, and the second one implements different fiber diameters. Both of these geometries are evaluated for their collection efficiency and depth resolution. The effect of numerical aperture (NA) and tissue optical properties on the fluorescence signal are also studied. Optical properties of dysplastic tongue epithelial multi-layered tissue were used as an input for Monte Carlo simulation. The results show that the sensitivity to superficial layers can be achieved using small fiber diameters. On the contrary, the sensitivity to deeper layers can be achieved using larger distances between illumination and collection fibers.
Recent works show that the graph structure of sentences, generated from dependency parsers, has potential for improving event detection. However, they often only leverage the edges (dependencies) between words, and discard the dependency labels (e.g. , nominal-subject), treating the underlying graph edges as homogeneous. In this work, we propose a novel framework for incorporating both dependencies and their labels using a recently proposed technique called Graph Transformer Network (GTN). We integrate GTN to leverage dependency relations on two existing homogeneous-graph-based models and demonstrate an improvement in the F1 score on the ACE dataset.
The chromatic dispersion of fiber is a major factor causing distortion of the light signals, and if not being addressed using accurate compensators it will lead to a significant deterioration in the performance of optical system. The value of chr omatic dispersion is not fixed along the fiber, and this necessitates the use of tunable dispersion compensators which need information about the value of dispersion which is done by dispersion monitoring. This research is Interested in analyzing chromatic dispersion technique based on the measuring of clock tone power of transmitted data and which is commensurate with the dispersion of the fiber. We found the relationship between signal frequency with range and accuracy of measurement. Also, the advantage of this technique to provide feedback signal to tunable dispersion compensator. The results show the extent of the improvement made in network performance. VPItransmissionmaker program was used to simulate the technique proposed.
this research studies 2x2 MIMO LTE signal transmission from the main tower eNB and the relay node RN over single mode fiber using ROF technology and take advantage of the WDM technology, the results show the ability of ROF to accommodate MIMO com munication with high efficiency. The network has been simulated and analyzed using Optisystem program, and the results were more than promising.
