An open-domain knowledge graph (KG) has entities as nodes and natural language relations as edges, and is constructed by extracting (subject, relation, object) triples from text. The task of open-domain link prediction is to infer missing relations i n the KG. Previous work has used standard link prediction for the task. Since triples are extracted from text, we can ground them in the larger textual context in which they were originally found. However, standard link prediction methods only rely on the KG structure and ignore the textual context that each triple was extracted from. In this paper, we introduce the new task of open-domain contextual link prediction which has access to both the textual context and the KG structure to perform link prediction. We build a dataset for the task and propose a model for it. Our experiments show that context is crucial in predicting missing relations. We also demonstrate the utility of contextual link prediction in discovering context-independent entailments between relations, in the form of entailment graphs (EG), in which the nodes are the relations. The reverse holds too: context-independent EGs assist in predicting relations in context.
Due to large number of entities in biomedical knowledge bases, only a small fraction of entities have corresponding labelled training data. This necessitates entity linking models which are able to link mentions of unseen entities using learned repre sentations of entities. Previous approaches link each mention independently, ignoring the relationships within and across documents between the entity mentions. These relations can be very useful for linking mentions in biomedical text where linking decisions are often difficult due mentions having a generic or a highly specialized form. In this paper, we introduce a model in which linking decisions can be made not merely by linking to a knowledge base entity but also by grouping multiple mentions together via clustering and jointly making linking predictions. In experiments on the largest publicly available biomedical dataset, we improve the best independent prediction for entity linking by 3.0 points of accuracy, and our clustering-based inference model further improves entity linking by 2.3 points.
studying the recycling of bituminous pavements is important to achieve a set of objectives. The most important one is to examine the asphalt obtained from the recycled bituminous pavements in order to identify its properties and suitability for reuse according to its serviceability, reductions and cost benefit.
Porcelain Laminate Veneers have shown promising results recently when used as an alternative to metal ceramic restorations for the anterior teeth. Long-term success for any restoration depends on the marginal fit, because marginal gaps increase pl aque accumulation and causing periodontitis. The aim of this study was to Asses marginal fit changes according to were curing the bond agent before or after cementation.
This research studies the use of outriggers and belt truss system for high-rise composite building subjected to earthquake load, consists of columns (W) and (HP), and beams (W), and central concrete core. Using (SAP2000) in three-dimensional (3D) ana lysis of building, storey displacements and storey drifts has been compared in four cases: 1. (MWBT): Model without belt truss and outriggers. 2. (MBT2): Model with two belt truss and outriggers at the levels (0.5H, H). 3. (MBT3): Model with three belt truss and outriggers at the levels (0.33H, 0.67H, H). 4. (MBT4): Model with four belt truss and outriggers at the levels (0.25H, 0.5H, 0.75H, H). Displacements reduction were 41.8%, 67.5%, 75.9%, respectively as compared to a model without any belt truss and outrigger system. So, using outrigger and belt truss system in high-rise buildings increase the stiffness and makes the structural form efficient under lateral load.
Chemotherapy causes neutropenia and increase susceptibility to infections. Morbidity and mortality due to infections remain serious problem in children with cancer. Decreased serum levels of Mannose-binding lectin ( MBL) may represent a risk factor f or infections in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia receiving chemotherapy. The aim of this study was to determine whether low MBL levels is associated with increased risk of infections in Syrian children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. The study has been done at Children University Hospital in Damascus between 2013-2014. This study included 37 children diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) who were candidates for chemotherapy, and the infections were identified depending on patients files. The levels of Mannose-Binding Lectin (MBL) was determined by Enzyme Linked Immuno Sorbent Assay (ELISA). The result was that MBL serum levels are higher in patients who did not develop infections compared to patients who developed infections, and all patients with low MBL levels developed infections in contrast to patients with normal MBL serum levels.
In contrast to adaptive immunity and to certain components of innate immunity, only little is known on the influence of the complement system on cancer suppression and promotion . The lectin pathway of complement activation is an important part of in nate immunity. It is mainly involved in opsonisation and lysis of pathogens and in recruitment of inflammatory cells. Our study aimed to assess the relationship between MASP-2 serum levels before and after chemotherapy in Syrian children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, aiming to find a relation, which serve in early forecast of patients response to chemotherapy, where the study has been done at Children University Hospital in damascus between 2013-2014. This study included 37 children diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). The levels of Mannose-Binding Lectin-associated Serine Protease-2 (MASP-2) were determined by Enzyme Linked Immuno Sorbent Assay (ELISA). The result was that serum levels of MASP-2 was strongly reduced after chemotherapy in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, and a strong correlation between serum marker levels before and after chemotherapy was found.
