Clinical improvement evaluation after physical therapy and rehabilitation to affected muscles for patients who have gunshot sciatic nerve injury treated surgically and conservatory with the comparison between results

The study includes 27 patients seen in AL-ASSAD University Hospital – faculty of medicine – Tishreen university –Lattakia with gunshot sciatic nerve injury 11 of them have neurosurgery for nerve injury repair and 16 treated conservatory. All patientshave regular physical therapy sessions for one year. The strengths of all Muscles which innervated by sciatic nerve branches have improved for all patients. The best improvement was seen at tibial branch innervated muscles and the worst was at deep peroneal branch innervated muscles. Also the improvement at sciatic nerve innervated muscles was better in conservative patients group comparing with surgical one. The best strengths were at semimembranosus, semitendinosus, and gastrocnemius musceles and the worst was at tibialis anterior muscle.
