It is recognized that Cerebral Palsy (CP) can have direct and indirect effects on oral health status, and that results in Gingivitis, periodontitis and other oral diseases, because of their inability to control muscle function and that makes oral hygiene maintenance is a difficult task for patients. Objectives: to assess the gingival and periodontal status in patients with CP and compare that to their healthy siblings.

Gingival overgrowth (GO) is one of many side effects of phenytoin (PHE) antiepleptic agent. The aim of this study was to evaluate the development of peiodontitis in patients taking PHE and its relation with GO, age, duration of drug administration . Thirty-four patients (14 females, 20 males: range 9-49 years; mean age 29.5) undergoing PHE treatment (range 2-32 years; mean 11.8) from the department of periodontology, faculty of dentistry, Damascus University was included in the study. Medical history including drug duration and clinical measurement of GO index, probing depth (PD) periodontal pocket bleeding points index (BPI) and panoramic radiographs for bone loss (BL), were performed for each patient. For statistical analysis Correlation test (r) was used to determine the correlation between age, duration and periodontal indices.
Aim of study:The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of antiasthma drug (Budesonide) on oral health of asthmatic children during one year of treatment. Materials and Methods: Thirty children with asthma aged (5-10) years were selected fro m the children who presented to children´s section at AL-Assad University Hospital in Lattakia with medium asthma severity and they needed to use antiasthma inhaled drug (Budesonide). This study have evaluated dental caries, gingival bleeding, dental plaque and saliva pH for each child before and after treatment with Budesonide in (3-6-9-12) months. Results: The results showed increasing in DMFT, dmft indices ,gingival bleeding index and dental plaque after follow- up for 12 months.
Pneumonia kills annually about 2 millions of children aged less than 5 years to be the main cause of death at this age group. Pneumonia is treated by antibiotics, oxygen and techniques for releasing secretions as Chest Physical Therapy (CPT). For children, CPT includes essentially postural drainage, percussion and vibration. This study aimed to study effect of chest physical therapy on respiratory status among children with pneumonia.
The outcomes of aggressive peiodontitis therapy (AgP) are not always successful. The aim of the study is to assess the improvement of periodontal status of AgP after surgical periodontal therapy supported by systemic dosages of metronidazol and amoxicillin.
This study is conducted to assess the role of hepcidin as a biomarker of iron status in haemodialysis patients. The study included88 patients who had end-stage renal disease ( ESRD), and were treated with haemodialysis in the Department of Renal Medi cine in Al-Assad University Hospital in Lattakia. Serum hepcidin and ferritinlevelswere measured, and transferrin saturation (TSAT) was calculated after measuringthe total iron binding capacity (TIBC), these markers were then attached with iron and compared to know the hardest correlation. Results show that all the patients had high serum hepcidin levels, there was a statistically significant relation between iron and hepcidin, where P-VALUE smaller than 0.05, this relationship was inversal, hardly 40% the stongest correlation. Conclusion: These findings suggest that the increased hepcidinin haemodialysis patients may contribute to abnormal ironregulation and erythropoiesis, and may be a novel biomarker of iron status and erythropoietin resistance.
