In this work Rosmarinus officinalis L. grown in Syria was studied. The general characteristics of the whole plant, as well as the leaves and the flowers were determined. It was shown that there are two varieties of Rosmarinus one having violet flowers and the other having white flowers. The two varieties were compared morphologically and they were in accord with what was mentioned in the literature. The two varieties were also compared chemically and it was possible to explain the differences mentioned in the literature by differences in the composition of the volatile oil. The chemical study of the drug shows the quantity as well as the percentage of its constituents. At last the main substitute of the drug used in Syria was shown and compared with the main drug. It was shown that the composition of the volatile oil of the substitute is different from the composition of the volatile oil of Rosmarinus, thus it can not be used for the same purpose.

A morphological , anatomical and chemical study was carried out on Salvia viridis L. (Lamiaceae) . The results showed presence of two types of trichomes : - Glandular hairs with four or eight celled globular heads or with oval heads . - Eglandular hairs which are unicellular or multicellular , in addition to presence of candle shaped eglandular hairs . The palynological study revealed that the pollen grains were prolate and they had six germination lines , exine appeared reticulate . The extraction of volatile oils have been done by dry evaporation using GC/MS technique , chromatographic analysis of these extracts have showed the presence of complex of carboxylic acids , hydrocarbons , terpenes , esters and aldehydes .
The seeds of Syrian cumin and Brown mustard used for human nutrition were analyzed in this study to determine some of their major chemical constituents and minerals. The results showed that the contents of cumin and mustard seeds were protein , l ipids, phospholipids , ash respectively. Mineral contents were phosphorus, ,calcium , Magnesium , potassium , and iron for cumin and mustard seeds respectively.
A study was conducted on one type of Syrian pears ‘Pyrus syriaca. Boiss’ which is widespread in Al-Qardahah area/Lattakia during 2012-2013. 9 superficial models were studied, these are scattered in different locations (Ein Al Aaros , Derhana, and B sin). The results revealed the existence of differences in some of the characteristics, out of 13 morphological studied characteristics. A cluster analysis showed a division in the studied models. Two main groups can be distinguished: the first group included the following models (P1, P2, P3, P4, P5, P6), whereas the second group included the following models (P7, P8, P9). These two main groups are further divided into 4 subgroups which can be considered independent morphological Models. The first main group contains the first and second subgroups with a similarity value 0.62. The first subgroup contains P1, P2, P3, P4, P5, and it is symbolized as A; while the second subgroup contains P6 and it is symbolized as B. The second main group contains the first and second subgroups with a similarity value 0.77. The first subgroup contains P7, P9 and it is symbolized as C; whereas the second subgroup contains P8 symbolized as D. The research indicates that there is a difference in the seed germination percentage of the studied models. The seeds and embryos of P9 gave the highest germination percentage, while the seeds and embryos of P6 gave the fastest germination percentage.
Husbandry of the medicinal and aromatic plants in general and “Rosemary” in particular is considered of the alternative economical husbandry that flourished recently in Syria due to the availability of the natural and environmental conditions there to; in addition to the good economical yield thereof. Interest, encouragement, development, and expansion of such husbandry are considered of the most important targets set for the future strategy of agricultural development in Syria. This Research has targeted to the realization of the following purposes : 1- Analysis of the costs of Rosemary production in Lattakia Governorate. 2- The economical evaluation for Rosemary production in Lattakia Governorate. The research concluded to the following: 1) The achieved annual net profit of one dunum planted with Rosemary in Lattakia Governorate has amounted to SYP /200799.48/. 2) The farming revenue of one dunum planted with Rosemary in Lattakia Governorate has amounted to SYP /206901.84/. 3) The total Economical Feasibility from Rosemary husbandry in Lattakia Governorate has amounted to 3,02
This research was aimed to study a gross chemical composition of Avocado fruits and seeds, and to known physicochemical characteristics of its oil, and its fatly acid composition. The data indicated that its fruits contained (12.4%) oil , while se eds contained lower amounts of oil which reached (1.92%) dry weight basis , and the moisture content of seeds reached (%52.5) , and acid value reached ( 1.6and4.3 mg KOH/g) at fruit and seed oils respectively , Avocado fruits oil contained (77.77%) unsaturated fatly acid , and (21.77%) saturated , and iodine value obtained in our study ( 77-84 g I/100 g) of fruits oil and ( 45.78 g I/100 g) of seeds oil confirming the unsaturated nature of these oils. Also Avocado fruits and seeds oil possessed a low peroxide value comparison others (3.71 , 2.2 Meq/kg oil) respectively , The data also indicated that its seeds contained (52.5%) moisture , (7.45%) grude fibers ,(8.53%) sugars , (4.69%) pure protein , (2.34%) ash , and high percentage of starch (59.3%) dry weight basis .
