A new ion exchanger has been prepared from syrian petroleum coke (S. P. C) of high sulphur content. Preparation of this ion exchanger was carried out by simple treatment of S. P. C with oleum at room temperature followed with statical ion exchange in aqueous sodium chloride solutions. The First, SPC ion exchanger with granular structure resulted from reacting 20 gr of the SPC granules with 20 ml of oleum. Where as a friable ion exchanger was produced when 40 ml of oleum were used in the process. The adsorption capacity of the two SPC ion exchangers was found out to be 100 mgeq and 170 mgeq respectively.
The nanocrystals of semi-conductive metal oxides attracted great attention because of their interesting properties. Therefore, our study of some physical properties of the pure and Sb doping Tin Oxide compound. The measurement of the infrared spectru m of pure tin oxide compound shows vibrational frequencies which has two energy (415.585, 574.683) cm-1 and the Sb doping Tin Oxide with a rate of (4wt%) shows vibration frequencies and the most prominent is which has two energy (417.513, 669.178) cm-1. the study showed that the largest value of the absorbance, absorption coefficient was in the sample Sb doping Tin Oxide compound respectively are A=0.7560, α=17.389 cm-1, at the vibrational frequency 3447.13 cm-1, and the refractive index for pure tin oxide ranged from (1.832 - 2.371). As for the Sb doping Tin Oxide compound, the refractive index value was between (1.709-2.643).
Terfenadine reacts with mixed anhydriedes (Malonic and acetic anhydrides) producing a yellow-coulored product with intense fluorescence. Based on this fact, a spectrophotometric method was developed for the determination of terfendaine in dosage f orms. The relation between the absorbance at 395 nm and the concentration is rectilinear over the range 0.5-5 μg.ml-1. The reaction product was also measured spectrofluorimetrically at 435 nm after excitation at 395 nm. The fluorescence intensity was directly proportional to the concentration over the range 0.5-4 ng.ml-1. The different parameters affecting the development and stability of the reaction product were carefully studied and incorporated into the procedure. The proposed spectrophotometric method was successfully applied to the determination of terfenadine in tablets and suspensions; the % recoveries were 99.83 ± 0.75 and 99.65 ± 0.83, respectively. The proposed spectrofluorimetric method was applied to the determination of terfenadine in spiked human plasma. the % recovery was 99.35 ± 2.19. The method is highly sensitive and specific. No interference was noticed from co-formulated drugs, such as pseudoephedrine and ibuprofen.
The recycling of debris, is considered as one of the most important resources for constructing base &subbase road layers in many countries. There are two problems for RCA: first, the considerable size it takes up when collected and second, its low technical properties. The second problem appears in countries which don't have natural quarries and they have to use RCA in certain fields (concrete mixes, asphalt mixes, granular road layers). This research discuses preparing RCA aggregates, by recycling the concrete waste, which comes from Al-Sallima landfill, near to Damascus city. Then many tests are carried out to study the effect of changing the aggregate's size on their mechanical & physical properties, and also to study the possibility of using these aggregates in constructing base &subbase road layers. As a result, it has been found that we can use RCA for constructing unbound base &subbase road layers, and the mechanical & physical properties of these RCA get better when the aggregate's size gets smaller, except in Proctor test. In this test, Proctor density and optimum moisture content get better when aggregate's size gets bigger.
With the advent of contextualized embeddings, attention towards neural ranking approaches for Information Retrieval increased considerably. However, two aspects have remained largely neglected: i) queries usually consist of few keywords only, which i ncreases ambiguity and makes their contextualization harder, and ii) performing neural ranking on non-English documents is still cumbersome due to shortage of labeled datasets. In this paper we present SIR (Sense-enhanced Information Retrieval) to mitigate both problems by leveraging word sense information. At the core of our approach lies a novel multilingual query expansion mechanism based on Word Sense Disambiguation that provides sense definitions as additional semantic information for the query. Importantly, we use senses as a bridge across languages, thus allowing our model to perform considerably better than its supervised and unsupervised alternatives across French, German, Italian and Spanish languages on several CLEF benchmarks, while being trained on English Robust04 data only.
