Background& Objective: This research is carried out to investigate the Anti-inflammatory activity of the alcoholic extract of flower buds of Crataegus laevigata in experimentally-induced arthritis in rats. Materials & Methods: the inflammation was induced experimentally by Carrageenan, the standard material that causes non-immune acute inflammation. The size of edema was measured before and after the inducing the inflammation, in control group as well as in group treated by extract and by Diclofenac. The measurements persist until the 4th hour following the injection of Carrageenan. In another set of experiment, the important biomarker, TNF-α, was calibrated in inflammation-induced groups of rats that received extract or Diclofenac and compared with control. Results: The extract significantly reduced the size of edema compared with control and this effect was not less than that of Diclofenac, the standard anti-inflammatory drug. Indeed, the extract lowered the values of TNF-α. Conclusion: The Crataegus laevigata has clear anti-inflammatony effect , but it should be further investigated.

Rat collagen II – induced arthritis is a model of chronic inflammation induced by Mycobacterium butyricum and collagen II. It is characterized by similar pathophysiological and pathobiochemical changes as rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in humans. In th e present study, the biochemical and histopathological effects of vitamin E, allopurinol (Allo), on RA of rats were investigated. The oxidative stress indices and prostaglandin E were evaluated.
The study has been done with Wister Rats have disease by 0.1 ml Complete Freund Adjuvent in right foot. At day 14 we gave Rosuvastatin (5- 20) mg/ kg PO and Dexamethazone 0.05 mg/kg IM until the day 28. At day 28 the joints have been studied hyst ologically.
The antimicrobial activity of aqueous extract of Zingiber Officinalis were tested for their antifungal activity against the following dermatophytes :Candida albicans, Cladosporium cladosporiosis , Cryptococcus neuphormans, Trichophyton violaceum a nd against other four bacteria : E. coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes. The extract used in traditional medicine for the treatment of nausea was tested in vitro through the Agar Disk Diffusion Method. This Study was designed to evaluate the effects of Aloe vacillans leaves juice on carbon tetrachloride CCl4- induced hepatotoxicity in rats. Hepatotoxicity was induced in rats by intraperitoneal (i.p) injection of CCl4 (1ml/kg) of body weight every 72h during ethanolic extract of Aloe vacillans leaves were administrated at dose 250 mg/kg and 500 mg/kg of body weight pass orally (p.o) daily for 14 days. Twenty-four hours post-CCl4 treatment, blood samples were withdrawn through retro orbital sinus.The hepatotoxicity and its prevention was assessed by serum parameters like alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), total protein (T.P) and albumin (ALB).
We aimed in this study to evaluate the effectiveness of Syrian propolis on some bacterial strains isolated from Al-Assad hospital in Latakia, to estimate its antimicrobial activity. Thus, we studied two propolis samples from two regions in the Syrian coast, and prepared ethanolic extracts of propolis (EEP) with different concentrations (0.5%, 1%, 5%, 10%, and 20%). Then we tested these extracts on four strains of bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, and Acinetobacter baumannii), using pore method on Muller Hinton Agar. As we observed, the bacteria showed diverse susceptibility to the extracts and the most susceptible bacterium was Staphylococcus aureus which was sensitive to all concentrations and especially for EEP 20%. However, the least affected bacteria were E. coli and Pseudomonas, as the 0.5% and 1% EEP had no efficacy. On the other hand, there were little differences in antimicrobial activity between the two samples of propolis.
