The objective of this research is to insist on the most important symptoms and signs
of appendicitis and diagnosis in a timely manner to avoid complications and deaths. The
aim of the study was to establish diagnostic criteria for acute appendiciti
s in children in the
light of the data obtained from the study of a large number of patients with appendicitis
and to determine the surgical indication to reduce complications and negative abdominal
opening and to include the studied criteria in a spec
ial scale in our patients to evaluate children with acute appendicitis depending On
this scale. The study included 104 children who visited the Pediatric emergency
department at Al-Assad University and University Hospital and Tishreen university
Hospital with a complaint of abdominal pain between 2014 and 2016. The number of male
patients was 76 patients and 28 females, abdominal pain was present in all patients, The
following criteria were studied (abdominal pain, abdominal tenderness, rebound
tenderness, ultra sound, leukocytosis, shift to left, fever, crp). These criteria were studied to
diagnose acute appendicitis and to put them in a special scale for use in diagnosis or denial
acute appendicitis. In comparison with international standards, we observed that the scale
studied in our study is more objective and eliminates the subjective factor in the diagnosis
of appendicitis.
Background: Kid's body has major ability for remodeling and correcting all of
displacement that could happened on fractures. There is many ways for treatment of these
fracture,we can put them in tow guidelines:
Surgical treatment, conservative trea
tment.
Aim: Comparison between conservative treatment result and result of surgical
treatment via ESIN in treatment of midshaft forearm fractures in children, and chose the
best method that achieve healing in fast time and with less complications.
Methods: the study included 40 kids ,that have been chosen in random way from
children that came to the ER and clinics in Alassad and Tishreen university hospitals in
time between 2012 and 2017,with age of 9 to 14 years.
Results: The results were similar between conservative treatment and surgical
treatment via esin according to healing ,time at hospital ,and costs .time to return to daily
life is shorter in surgical treatment. complications were found in two methods but there
were no effect on the extremity or the child.
Management of tibiodiaphysial fractures in the age group of 5-15 years is
controversial ,there has been a resurgence world wide for operative fixation in general and
TENS(titanium elastic nailing system) in particular. We performed a retrospective
review
of pediatric tibial fractures treated by TENS. The data was collected from cases operated
between 2010 and 2014 at Al Assad university hospital ,Lattakia. We had treated 34
children (boys and girls) with TENS for tibial shaft fractures. Average load of age was 11
years(range 5-15 years). All fractures were radiographically united at a mean of 7,5 weeks
(range 5-10) weeks. The nails were removed mean of 22 weeks (range 6-31 weeks)
postoperatively. At follow up we had found leg length discrepancy of 1 cm in one child
and 10 degrees of internal rotational deformity in another. No angular deformity had
occured.Titanium elastic nailing seems to be a safe and effective method for treatment of
tibial shaft fractures in childreen between 5 and 15 years of age.
The purpose of our study is to assess the nurse's knowledge, attitudes and practices at the hospital toward child maltreatment. The sample contains \200\ nurses who were interviewed, received questionnaires, working in emergency departments at six ho
spitals distributed in Damascus, Lattakia, Tartous.
Results show: Knowledge deficiency about problem particularly when scientific qualification level decreases; Knowledge was not affected by age, sex, experience range, salary. Nurses' attitudes were neutral. Attitudes were affected by experience range, scientific qualification level, knowledge level, violence through childhood, but were not affected by age, sex, salary. Most of them didn’t practice nursing care toward child violence. Nursing practices were not affected by their attitudes or violence through childhood. More than half did not receive violence through childhood.
We recommend teaching nurses everything that is related to the subject, finding integration work team that can deal with violent clients at the hospital, activating the hospital's special laws which deal with violent children, searching to discover other problems from which nursing suffers.
Alleviating pain in children is one of the most exciting and rewarding of
professional activities . pediatric regional anesthesia is receiving its deserved attention as an excellent
technique for a balanced intraoperative anesthesia as well as post
operative analgesia .
Continuous caudal block provides adequate duration of analgesia, not only for lower limb and lower
abdominal surgeries, but also for upper abdominal and thoracic surgery , conserving the haemodynamic
stability .
