We have developed a system for contactless measurement of nonlinear conductivity in the radio-frequency band, and over a wide temperature range. A non-resonant circuit is used to electrically excite the sample, and the induced signal is detected by a resonant circuit whose natural frequency matches higher harmonics of the excitation. A simple modification of the probe allows non-resonant detection suitable for stronger signals. Two measurement procedures are proposed that allow significant excitation power variation, up to 150 W. The apparatus has been validated trough the measurement of the nonlinear response at the superconducting transition of a high-Tc superconductor, and the nematic transition of an iron pnictide.

We show how, upon heating the spin degrees of freedom of the Hubbard model to infinite temperature, the symmetries of the system allow the creation of steady-states with long-range correlations between $eta$-pairs. With induce this heating with eithe r dissipation or periodic driving and evolve the system towards a nonequilibrium steady state, a process which melts all spin order in the system. The steady state is identical in both cases and displays distance-invariant off-diagonal $eta$-correlations. These correlations were first recognised in the superconducting eigenstates in Yangs seminal paper [Phys. Rev. Lett 63, 2144 (1989)], which are a subset of our steady states. We show that our results are a consequence of symmetry properties and entirely independent of the microscopic details of the model and the heating mechanism.
We report the magneto-conductivity analysis at different temperatures under magnetic field of up to 5Tesla of a well characterized Bi2Te3 crystal. Details of crystal growth and various physical properties including high linear magneto resistance are already reported by some of us. To elaborate upon the transport properties of Bi2Te3 crystal, the magneto conductivity is fitted to the known HLN (Hikami Larkin Nagaoka) equation and it is found that the conduction mechanism is dominated by both surface driven WAL (weak anti localization) and the bulk WL states. The value of HLN equation coefficient signifying the type of localization (WL, WAL or both WL and WAL) falls within the range of -0.5 to -1.5. In our case, the low field (0.25Tesla) fitting of studied crystal exhibited value close to -0.86 for studied temperatures of up to 50K, indicating both WAL and WL contributions. The phase coherence length is found to decrease from 98.266 to 40.314nm with increasing temperature. Summarily, the short letter reports the fact that bulk Bi2Te3 follows the HLN equation and quantitative analysis of the same facilitates to know the quality of studied crystal in terms of WAL to WL contributions and thus the surface to bulk conduction ratio.
We show that the spin chain/ladder compound La_3Sr_3Ca_8Cu_24O_41 is an insulator with hopping transport along the chains. In the temperature range 35 - 280 K, DC conductivity sigma_{DC}(T) follows Motts law of variable-range hopping conduction; the frequency dependence has the form sigma( u, T) = sigma_{DC}(T) + A(T) u^{s}, where s approx 1. The conduction mechanism changes from variable-range hopping to nearest-neighbor hopping around T_{c} =300 K. The chain array thus behaves like a one-dimensional disordered system. Disorder is due to random structural distortions of chains induced by irregular coordination of the La/Sr/Ca ions.
We describe the use of digital phase noise test sets at frequencies well beyond the sampling rate of their analog-to-digital converters. The technique proposed involves the transfer of phase fluctuations from an arbitrary high carrier frequency to wi thin the operating frequency range of the digital instrument. The validity of the proposed technique has been proven via comparison with conventional methods. Digital noise measurements eliminate the need for calibration and improve consistency of experimental results. Mechanisms limiting the resolution of spectral measurements are also discussed.
We describe a setup and procedures for contactless optical 3D-metrology of silicon micro-strip sensors. Space points are obtained by video microscopy and a high precision XY-table. The XY-dimensions are obtained from the movement of the table and pat tern recognition, while the Z-dimension results from a Fast Fourier Transformation analyses of microscopic images taken at various distances of the optical system from the object under investigation. The setup is employed to measure the position of silicon sensors mounted onto a carbon fibre structure with a precision of a few microns.
