Among the dipole models of deep inelastic scattering at small values of the Bjorken variable $x$, one has been recently proposed which relates the virtual photon-proton cross section to the dipole-proton forward scattering amplitude in momentum space. The latter is parametrized by an expression which interpolates between its behavior at saturation and the travelling wave, ultraviolet, amplitudes predicted by perturbative QCD from the Balitsky-Kovchegov equation. Inspired by recent developments in coordinate space, we use this model to parametrize the proton structure function and confront it to HERA data on $ep$ deep inelastic scattering. Both event-by-event and the physical amplitudes are considered, the latter used to investigate the effect of gluon number fluctuations, beyond the mean-field approximation. We conclude that fluctuations are not present in DIS at HERA energies.

In this letter we report the direct perturbative QCD evaluation of twist-4 effects in diffractive DIS. They are large and have a strong impact on the $Q^2$ dependence of diffractive structure functions at large $beta$. Based on the AGK rules, we comm ent on the possible contribution from diffractive higher twists to $propto {1 over Q^{2}}$ corrections to proton structure function at small $x$. These corrections to the longitudinal structure function $F_{L}$ may be particularly large.
Differential distributions for heavy quark production depend on the heavy quark mass and other momentum scales, which can yield additional large logarithms and inhibit accurate predictions. Logarithms involving the heavy quark mass can be summed in h eavy quark parton distribution functions in the ACOT factorization scheme. A second class of logarithms involving the heavy-quark transverse momentum can be summed using an extension of Collins-Soper-Sterman (CSS) formalism. We perform a systematic summation of logarithms of both types, thereby obtaining an accurate description of heavy-quark differential distributions at all energies. Our method essentially combines the ACOT and CSS approaches. As an example, we present angular distributions for bottom quarks produced in parity-conserving events at large momentum transfers Q at the ep collider HERA.
The behaviour of the transverse momentum fluctuations with the centrality of the collision shown by the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider data is naturally explained by the clustering of color sources. In this framework, elementary color sources --stri ngs-- overlap forming clusters, so the number of effective sources is modified. These clusters decay into particles with mean transverse momentum that depends on the number of elementary sources that conform each cluster, and the area occupied by the cluster. The transverse momentum fluctuations in this approach correspond to the fluctuations of the transverse momentum of these clusters, and they behave essentially as the number of effective sources.
We consider forward neutron production in DIS within fracture functions formalism. By performing a QCD analysis of available data we extract proton-to-neutron fracture functions exploiting a method which is in close relation with the factorisation theorem for this class of processes.

In the neutrino DIS diffraction the charged current non-conservation gives rise to sizable corrections to the longitudinal structure function, $F_L$. These corrections is a higher twist effect enhanced at small-$x$ by the rapidly growing gluon densit y. The phenomenon manifests itself in abundant production of charm and strangeness by longitudinally polarized W bosons of moderate virtualities $Q^2lsim m_c^2$.
