We develop a percolation model motivated by recent experimental studies of gels with active network remodeling by molecular motors. This remodeling was found to lead to a critical state reminiscent of random percolation (RP), but with a cluster distribution inconsistent with RP. Our model not only can account for these experiments, but also exhibits an unusual type of mixed phase transition: We find that the transition is characterized by signatures of criticality, but with a discontinuity in the order parameter.
In this reply we discuss definition and estimation of the Fisher exponent in the no-enclaves percolation (NEP) model.
We use a two-level simulation method to analyse the critical point associated with demixing of binary hard sphere mixtures. The method exploits an accurate coarse-grained model with two-body and three-body effective interactions. Using this model wit
We introduce and solve a model of hardcore particles on a one dimensional periodic lattice which undergoes an active-absorbing state phase transition at finite density. In this model an occupied site is defined to be active if its left neighbour is o
Anomalous diffusion, manifest as a nonlinear temporal evolution of the position mean square displacement, and/or non-Gaussian features of the position statistics, is prevalent in biological transport processes. Likewise, collective behavior is often
The orientation fluctuations of the director of a liquid crystal are measured, by a sensitive polarization interferometer, close to the Freedericksz transition, which is a second order transition driven by an electric field. We show that near the cri
