The influence of vesicular - arbuscular Mycorrhiza fungi (VAM) on symbiotic fixation of N٢ in alfalfa plants has been observed. Beneficial effects of VAM plants in saline soil are of great interest. The aim of this work was to study the effect of VAM or phosphorous fertilization on alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) yields, number of nodules and N٢ fixation by N١٥ isotope dilution at different salinity levels.

A pots experiment was carried out using two soil types (clay loam and sand soil) to study the interaction between VA-mycorrhizal (My) and some soil fungi under the effect of rock phosphat on growth of onion plant. The interaction between mycorrhiz al (My) and other soil fungi increased the fresh weight of root in comparison with mycorrhizal (My) alone, however the differences were not significant except for (Saccharomyces+Mycorrhiza) (Sac+My) similar results were obtained in sandy loam soil. The percentage of root colonization on the growth of onion plant was not effected by the interaction between mycorrhiza (My) and other osil fungi (Actinomucor, Aspergillus, Penicillium, Saccharomyces) (Act, Asp, P, Sac). This value, however was high in the second harvest in treatment mycorrhiza (My) and (My+Sac) (My+Act) The VAM- fungus alone and their interaction with other soil fungi increased the plant growth.
Cultivars of Medicago Sativa l.var local were planted in three locations, ten pots per location. The first location wich is the most polluted one is (Bab Toma), second polluted one is (Jeser Victoria), and the reference location is (Daria), in the west of Damascus. Temperature, relative humidity and concentrations of main pollutants in that three locations were measured. Resultes showed that air pollution decreased growth of plants, amount of chlorophyll, production of plants, number of flowers, number of pods and leaf area in comparison with reference location.
With the widespread of oil facilities, distribution centers of oil and oil tanks, it has become a must in this article to study the impact of these materials on the physical and mechanical properties of soils, especially at coast to avoid distortions and changes in the properties of these soils. We tried in this research to study Clay coastal soil. Two main samples were studied: one polluted with materials leaked from these sites and the other was not. The samples were taken from both types and transported to the laboratories of the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the University in October. In the laboratory, we conducted experiments and evaluated their results.
Effect of organic and bio fertilizers (Azotobacter and phosphate solubilizing bacteria) on production of potatoes and some soil properties was studied in Tartous. The experiment consisted of 4 treatments (control soil, soil+manure, soil+ bioferti lizer and soil+manure+biofertilizer) each replicated four time, for 2004 and 2005 seasons. Total N, available P, available K, and organic matter in soil were determined. Significant increases were observed in most of the inoculated and organic fertilized treatments compared with the control. However, the treatment (soil+manure+biofertilizer) was the best and showed significant increases in potato yield compared with other treatments especially in the next season. However, the second season was better in yield increase in all treatments than the first seacon.
The experiment was carried out in Tartous Governorate in the Qubeiba region in the two agricultural seasons 2011 and 2012 to study the effect of different types of ploughs, the depth of plowing, and the timing of adding nitrogen fertilizer on some ph ysical and chemical properties of the soil and some growth indicators of peanuts and its productivity. Three types of plows were used: MP ), disc plow ( DP ) and backhoe plow ( CP ) .
