The research was conducted in the ornamental plants laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, to determine the best seed germination conditions of Sophora japonica and S. secundiflora. Different seed pre-treatments (cold ater (6oC) and warm water (50oC) immersing, Citric acid (2%) and Sulphoric acid (25, 50%) stratification) were experimented. The effect of different culture mediums and sowing times were also investigated. The results indicated that the chemical pre-treatments represented the highest relative germination rates compared to the physical pre-tretments. Among the physical pretreatment, the seed immersed in hot water for 2h showed the highest germination percentage (38,6 – 30%) for S. japonica and S. secundiflora respectively. While, the seed treated with sulphoric acid represented the best germination percentage for the tow species (58,3 – 63,6%). Nevertheless, the increase of the sulphoric acid concentration had a negative impact on survival plantlet rates for the tow species, specially for S. japonica. The results showed that the seed sowing in sand with soil and organic mature (1:1:1) medium realized the best germination percentage for the tow studied species.

The aime of this study was to isolate and identify the seed borne fungi of two varieties of Soybean, Sb172 and Sb44, using blotter method and P.D.A plate method. 21 species belong 10 genus were determined, saprophyte and pathogen Fungi. P.D.A plat e method showed the highest number of fungi in comparison with the other method, and the fungus Aspergillus was the most frequent genus with a ratio of 44.2% for the variety sb172 and 45.14% for the variety sb44, followed by the fungus Cladosporium and then Fusarium, whereas the genus Colletotrichum showed the lowest frequent ratio (0.85%) with the variety Sb172. The percentages of seeds germination and infection were differed between the two varieties, and the ratio seeds germination of variety sb172 were higher than the variety sb44 with the both methods of culture, and were equal 94% with prim variety and 92% with the second ones by blotter method, whereas the ratio were 52% and 34% for both varieties respectively by P.D.A plate method. However, the ratio of infection were, in general, lower with prim variety than the second ones by the both method. The results showed the seeds which were highest ratio infection appeared low ratio germination .
The effect of different treatments on carob seed germination was studied. The results showed that, seed scarification was the most effective method in increasing germination rate as well as the use of concentrated sulfuric acid for 30 minutes reac hing 100%, followed by the treatment with alcohol for 60 minutes, and immersing seeds in hot water for 60 minutes. The results also indicated that the speed of germination when seeds were scarified was the best (I.D.=14.5), followed by the treatment with concentrated sulfuric acid for 30 minutes (I.D.=21.5), alcohol for 60 minutes (I.D.= 38) and immersing seeds in hot water for 60 minutes (ID.=60).
Six durum cultivars were compared in relation to germination percentage, mean germination time, and germination “Catch up” from stress under different soil moisture contents in the labs. Both soil moisture and cultivars have shown effects on the s tudied parameters. Increasing moisture tension had caused a significant reduction in the germination percentage. The cultivars differed in their germination. Haurani 27 and Cham3 showed a higher germination potential and their germination times were shorter than the two varieties Bohouth 5 and Cham1. The varieties Lahn and Senator Capelli were intermediate among the other examined cultivars.
This research aims study the effect of different treatments in activate and increase percentage of germination Cupressus arizonicaL.seeds to use plants in forestation projects, seeds were get from mature conifers, and tested by different treatments with control, then cultured within polyethylene bags many times to calculate indicators of germination. The results showed that the soaking the seeds Cupressus arizonicaL. in citric acid 0.1% with cold wet stratification for 30 days at 4-5c gave higher germination percentage 75%.The treatments of the soaking seeds in sulfuric acid0.1% and hydroxide sodium 0.1% with cold wet stratification for 30 days gave respectively 60%-53% .But superiority was not significant. Other treatments; soaking the seeds in tap water 24h with cold wet stratification for 30 days gave only 36%.But the control treatment gave lower germination percentage of all just only 9%. The treatment of soaking seeds in citric acid 0.1% with cold wet stratification for 30 days surpassed the rest of the treatments in effect on plant height at the end of the experiment.
The effect of salinity and the treatment with fungicide on seed germination of Cupressus sempervirens L. was investigated. Five concentrations of salinity (0, 0.5, 1, 5 and 10%) were used. One part of the seeds was treated with fungicides (Benomyl ), while the other part was germinated without fungicide treatment. The results showed that seed germination was reduced by salinity, but the reduction was more pronounced without fungicide and with salt concentration, the seeds didn't germinate at 5 and 10% NaCl. Despite the decrease of germination indices with the increase of salt concentrations, the statistical results didn't show significant differences in salinity concentrations and the control in germination speed without fungicide, but they were significant with the fungicide. The statistical results showed significant differences between the presence and absence of fungicide in all treatments
