Palliative procedures in TOF patients with small-caliber pulmonary arteries aim at alleviating cyanosis and improving the overall clinical condition, as well as progressively enlarging the small pulmonary arteries, a step preceding the total surgical correction of TOF. The present study compares between two types of palliative procedures, i.e. Modified Blalock’s vs. Open Brock’s.

we have started applying assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) in AL-ASSAD University hospital in Damascus in 1992 and we achieved in a period past 332 different operations, most of them were done under general anesthesia, only 48 cases were done under local, due to the risk of general anesthesia. The age of patients varied between 13-72 year.
Tuberculosis is still a worldwide disease. Medical treatment is essential but surgery still has a role in the diagnosis and treatment of several various thoracic tuberculous lesions (both pulmonary and extra-pulmonary). We aim to present and analy zethe results of surgical treatment of thoracic tuberculous cases in Al-Assad University Hospital in Damascus. Also, we purpose to determine the indications of thoracoscopic and traditional surgical interventions in this field, and studying their complications.
OBJECTIVES: Hydatidosis is an infectious widespread disease caused by Echinococcus granulsus. The involvement may be single, multiple or combined in different organs especially in the liver and lungs. The surgical excision is still the treatment o f choice through thoracotomy, laparotomy, thoraco-abdominal and sternotomy. The aim of this study was to introduce a new surgical approach for pulmonary hydatid cysts using video assisted thoracoscopic surgical methods. METHODS: 88 patients (age range 6-74 years) underwent surgery for single pulmonary hydatid cysts from 1996-1999. 40 were females and 48 were males. 33 had an intact cyst, 33 had a ruptured cyst to the bronchus, 7 had rupture to the pleural cavity and 15 had an infected cyst. All patients underwent a minithoracotomy with video-assisted thoracoscopy.
Aimed at generating a seed lexicon for use in downstream natural language tasks and unsupervised methods for bilingual lexicon induction have received much attention in the academic literature recently. While interesting and fully unsupervised settin gs are unrealistic; small amounts of bilingual data are usually available due to the existence of massively multilingual parallel corpora and or linguists can create small amounts of parallel data. In this work and we demonstrate an effective bootstrapping approach for semi-supervised bilingual lexicon induction that capitalizes upon the complementary strengths of two disparate methods for inducing bilingual lexicons. Whereas statistical methods are highly effective at inducing correct translation pairs for words frequently occurring in a parallel corpus and monolingual embedding spaces have the advantage of having been trained on large amounts of data and and therefore may induce accurate translations for words absent from the small corpus. By combining these relative strengths and our method achieves state-of-the-art results on 3 of 4 language pairs in the challenging VecMap test set using minimal amounts of parallel data and without the need for a translation dictionary. We release our implementation at www.blind-review.code.
The objective of this study was to model the Blood Flow into human arm’s arteries in order to define velocity profile. All steps were based on computational fluid dynamics .Simplified model for arm’s most important arteries were made, while primar y data such as length, diameter, and velocity were collected for a healthy 40 years old, male , weight 64 Kg with pulse rate 62 bpm ,and his arteries ranges from 1.6 to 2.6 mm by using Doppler measurement.Bio dynami
