This study describes the changes in species composition of phytoplankton under different Si:N ratios from spring to summer of 2010 and 2011. For this purpose, natural Phytoplankton was cultured in mesocosmic experiments at two stations in the northern part of Latakia coastal water. The abundance of phytoplankton was measured, and the specific composition of phytoplankton was determined. Diatoms dominated during 2010 and 2011, while Dinoflagellates did not compete with diatoms during this study. The enrichment experiment affected the species composition of the diatoms themselves, where the species Pseudo-nitzschia pseudodelicatissima Schil and Leptocylindrus danicus Cleve dominated under different Si:N ratios.

This study was achieved through Mars 2011 until February 2012 the samples collected monthly from Baksa dam from different four location which differenced each other with chemical and physical qualities. We could in these study classified 132 speci es of phytoplankton distributed as 59 species belong to chrysophyta, 40 species of chlorophyta and 28 species of cyanophyta , 5 species of Euglenophyta. Physical and chemicalanalyzing ofBaksa waters showed the difference of values between studding regions, The concentration of Nitrate ions ranged between 17.7 mg/l at third location and 0.3 mg/l at second location, The highest rate to Phosphate ions was 18.8 mg/l and the less was 0.01mg/l, and it was noticed the difference in these values in the same region with the difference of period of time. The diversity and distribution of studied phytoplankton correlated with the environmental factors. It was noticed The abundance of cyanophytain the water of third location which near to the sewage channels which is suitable environment to these group of phytoplankton.
This research deals with comparable study of the specific composition of assemblages gastropoda and migratory species in four regions of Syrian coast, which differed by substrate nature and their exposure to pollution resources and rivers estuaries , They are as fallow:The Southern Region of Lattakia, AL Bhyss and AL Moelh South of Jableh, Estuary Assin. This research was done between April 2010 and April 2011. The samples were collected from the supralittoral ,littoral and sublittoral regions at depth 3m.
This research was carried out during the period 08/28/2012 - 07/29/2013 in order to determine the qualitative composition of Puffer Fishes (Tetraodontidae) in the marine water of Latakia. Fish samples were collected from three stations (Borj Islam , Al madina al riyadiah and Jableh), the total of fishes were / 255 / individuals. All fish individuals were classified, preserved and placed at the High Institute of Marine Research Laboratory, some biological factors of the collected fish (K%, GSI%,HIS%) were studied. Results had revealed the presence of five species of Puffer Fish belong to three genera of Tetraodontidae: Lagocephalus sceleratus, L. spadiceus, L. suezensis, Sphoeroides pachygaster, Torquigener flavimaculosus. S. pachygaster species (migratory species from the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean Sea) has been recorded for the first time in the marine water of Syria. Results showed that L. suezensis were more coincidence species in the catch. The amounts caught of Puffer Fishes varied according to the stations; the highest was in Borj Islam. K% was almost similar in all species, while GSI% and HSI% varied according to the species and seasons.
This study aimed at determining the fish fauna composition in 16th of Tishreen Lake (Alkabeer Alshimali River). A total of 730 individual fishes were collected between April 2012 and March 2013 from five different sites along the lake /Alsafkoon, W ata-Alsheer, Alkerassat, Mazraet Alsheikh Deeb, and Alaqfaas area/. Our results showed the presence of only six main fish species belonging to three families (Tillapia zillii, Cyprinus carpio, Liza abu,Varicorhinus damascinus, Garra rufa and Garra lamta). The results also showed that Tilapia zillii was the most caught fish, and Wata-Alsheer was the richest site in the lake. These results showed a decrease in the number of fish species and their quantities compared to that in previous studies on the lake.
This research aims to study the distribution of Phytoplankton in four locations which have different environmental specifications, in addition to study some environmental factors of Alhaffeh Dam water that affect the distribution of the phytoplankt on (Temperature ,BOD, DO, pH, NO3, NO2, NH4, PO4). Samples were collected from different locations of the Dam basin from June 2011 to May 2012 once or twice a month. (84) species of Phytoplankton were identified and were distributed as: (38) species of Chrysophyta, (36) species of Diatomophyceae, (2) species of Chrysophycea, (25) species of Chlorophyta, (20) species of Cyanophyta, (2) species of Pyrrhophyta, and (5) species of Euglenophyta. The results show apparent changes in physical and chemical properties of water during this study. This is the first study of the phytoplankton on the water of Alhaffeh Dam.
