Evaluation of the treatment of port- wine stain with pulsed dye laser 585 nm

Thirty-two patients with port-wine stain were included in this study. The 585 nm pulsed dye laser treatment with an air cooling device was repeated 4 times at 8 – week intervals with a setting of 0.5 ms pulse duration and an average energy fluence 5 - 6.5 J/ cm2, using 7 mm spot size. The results revealed improvement of port-wine stains after multiple treatments , and 69% of the patients achieved good or excellent clearance after the fourth treatment. Transient purpura and tolerable pain were noted immediately after each treatment (87.5%), crusting (25%), hypopigmentation (9%), hyperpigmentation (6%) were also mild and their occurrence didn’t increase by repeating treatment. The results of this study indicated that the 585 nm PDL is effective and well tolerated in the treatment of port wine stain.

Intermittent Clonazepam For The Prevence Of Recurrent Febrile Seizures

Objective: Febrile seizures are the most common seizures in children less than 5 years(2-5%),and the risk of its recurrence is 50%(>1year),30%(<1year).We focused on the effect and safety of the prophylaxis treatment of recurrent FS beacuase it is a terrifying case for the parents. Materials&Methods:This is a trial study on 40 patient with FS.Clonazepam was recommended 0.05mg/kg/d then anti e when fever exceed 38°.We did follow up every 3 month during one year. Results:we followed 35 patient, familial history of FS found in 57.1%,a history of epilepsy in 28.57%.clonazepam side effects were supportable the most common was lawson 14.28%,the efficacy of the treatment we didn’t noticed any episode of FS during the study 97.1%. Conclusion: Clonazepam is a safe and effective and easy treatement for the parents for the prophylaxis of FS recurrence.

The side effects of some insecticides and plant extracts on the predator of pear psyllae insect Anthocoris nemoralis (F.) and the parasite Trechnites psyllae (R.)

The toxic effect of some insecticides (Amitraz, Amitraz + summer oil, Abamectin, Abamectin + summer oil) and plant extracts (Melia azedarach L., M. azedarach + summer oil, Schinus molle L., S. molle + summer oil) were tested on the predator of pear psyllae insect Anthocoris nemoralis F. and the parasite Trechnites psyllae R. in the Mokhtaria research station, agricultural research center at Homs during the season 2011.

Medical Expert System For Drugs Interactions For Safe And Effective Use Of Drugs

This paper presents a new solution that allows the doctors to know drug interactions, considering other affecting factors such as the patient's age, weight, physiological and pathological condition. This solution is characterized by being incremental, not only by enriching the database with drug interactions information, but also by its ability to conclude other interactions through a built-in expert system. The system concludes drugs interactions based on its active substrates and the potential interactions between them or between the drugs families. The system serves in three ways; it determines whether the patient illness is possibly due to the medications he is on. It alerts the doctor to the interaction of the newly prescribed medication with the patient’s medications, and to its influence on the patient’s physiological or pathological condition. Besides, it suggests alternative drugs when needed. The solution offers additional services such as binding between the brand name and the generic drug, and between drugs and diseases.
