We report the discovery of a new HI ring around the S0 galaxy NGC 1533. The ring orbits at a radius of 35 kpc, well outside the optical extent of the galaxy. We have conducted N-body/SPH numerical simulations to show this HI ring could be the merger remnant of a tidally destroyed galaxy. We find no optical component associated with the HI ring. However, observations hint at H-alpha emission associated with the SE part of the ring only. The H-alpha is in the form of a few very small isolated emission line regions. The large HI velocity dispersions (up to 30 km/s) and velocity gradients (up to 50 km/s/kpc) in this region indicate the H-alpha emission could be due to star formation triggered by clouds colliding within the ring.

We detected a compact ionized gas associated physically with IRS13E3, an Intermediate Mass Black Hole (IMBH) candidate in the Galactic Center, in the continuum emission at 232 GHz and H30$alpha$ recombination line using ALMA Cy.5 observation (2017.1. 00503.S, P.I. M.Tsuboi). The continuum emission image shows that IRS13E3 is surrounded by an oval-like structure. The angular size is $0.093pm0.006times 0.061pm0.004$ ( $1.14times10^{16}$ cm $times 0.74times10^{16}$ cm). The structure is also identified in the H30$alpha$ recombination line. This is seen as an inclined linear feature in the position-velocity diagram, which is usually a defining characteristic of a rotating gas ring around a large mass. The gas ring has a rotating velocity of $V_mathrm{rot}simeq230$ km s$^{-1}$ and an orbit radius of $rsimeq6times10^{15}$ cm. From these orbit parameters, the enclosed mass is estimated to be $M_{mathrm{IMBH}}simeq2.4times10^4$ $M_odot$. The mass is within the astrometric upper limit mass of the object adjacent to Sgr A$^{ast}$. Considering IRS13E3 has an X-ray counterpart, the large enclosed mass would be supporting evidence that IRS13E3 is an IMBH. Even if a dense cluster corresponds to IRS13E3, the cluster would collapse into an IMBH within $tau<10^7$ years due to the very high mass density of $rho gtrsim8times10^{11} M_odot pc^{-3}$. Because the orbital period is estimated to be as short as $T=2pi r/V_mathrm{rot}sim 50-100$ yr, the morphology of the observed ionized gas ring is expected to be changed in the next several decades. The mean electron temperature and density of the ionized gas are $bar{T}_{mathrm e}=6800pm700$ K and $bar{n}_{mathrm e}=6times10^5$ cm$^{-3}$, respectively. Then the mass of the ionized gas is estimated to be $M_{mathrm{gas}}=4times10^{-4} M_odot$.
We present high-resolution archival Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) CO J=3-2 and J=6-5 and HCO+ J=4-3 observations and new CARMA CO and 13CO J=1-0 observations of the luminous infrared galaxy NGC 1614. The high-resolution maps sho w the previously identified ring-like structure while the CO J=3-2 map shows extended emission that traces the extended dusty features. We combined these new observations with previously published Submillimeter Array CO and 13CO J=2-1 observations to constrain the physical conditions of the molecular gas at a resolution of 230 pc using a radiative transfer code and a Bayesian likelihood analysis. At several positions around the central ring-like structure, the molecular gas is cold (20-40 K) and dense (> 10^{3.0} cm^{-3}) . The only region that shows evidence of a second molecular gas component is the hole in the ring. The CO-to-13CO abundance ratio is found to be greater than 130, more than twice the local interstellar medium value. We also measure the CO-to-H_{2} conversion factor, alpha_{CO}, to range from 0.9 to 1.5 M_sol (K km/s pc^{2})^{-1}.

Observations of ongoing HI accretion in nearby galaxies have only identified about 10% of the needed fuel to sustain star formation in these galaxies. Most of these observations have been conducted using interferometers and may have missed lower colu mn density, diffuse, HI gas that may trace the missing 90% of gas. Such gas may represent the so-called cold flows predicted by current theories of galaxy formation to have never been heated above the virial temperature of the dark matter halo. As a first attempt to identify such cold flows around nearby galaxies and complete the census of HI down to N(HI)~10^18 cm^-2, I used the Robert C. Byrd Green Bank Telescope (GBT) to map the circumgalactic (r < 100-200 kpc) HI environment around NGC 2997 and NGC 6946. The resulting GBT observations cover a four square degree area around each galaxy with a 5-sigma detection limit of N(HI)~10^18 cm^-2 over a 20 km/s linewidth. This project complements absorption line studies, which are well-suited to the regime of lower N(HI). Around NGC 2997, the GBT HI data reveal an extended HI disk and all of its surrounding gas-rich satellite galaxies, but no filamentary features. Furthermore, the HI mass as measured with the GBT is only 7% higher than past interferometric measurements. After correcting for resolution differences, the HI extent of the galaxy is 23% larger at the N(HI)~1.2x10^18 cm^-2 level as measured by the GBT. On the other hand, the HI observations of NGC 6946 reveal a filamentary feature apparently connecting NGC 6946 with its nearest companions. This HI filament has N(HI)~10^18 cm^-2 and a FWHM of 55+-5 km/s and was invisible in past interferometer observations. The properties of this filament are broadly consistent with being a cold flow or debris from a past tidal interaction between NGC 6946 and its satellites.
Dorado is a nearby (17.69 Mpc) strongly evolving galaxy group in the Southern Hemisphere. We are investigating the star formation in this group. This paper provides a FUV imaging of NGC 1533, IC 2038 and IC 2039, which form a substructure, south west of the Dorado group barycentre. FUV CaF2-1 UVIT-Astrosat images enrich our knowledge of the system provided by GALEX. In conjunction with deep optical wide-field, narrow-band Halpha and 21-cm radio images we search for signatures of the interaction mechanisms looking in the FUV morphologies and derive the star formation rate. The shape of the FUV luminosity profile suggests the presence of a disk in all three galaxies. FUV emission is detected out to the optical size for IC 2038, and in compact structures corresponding to Halpha and HII bright features in NGC 1533. A faint FUV emission, without an optical counterpart, reminiscent of the HI structure that surrounds the outskirts of NGC 1533 and extends up to IC 2038/2039, is revealed above the local background noise.

This work presents an extended, neutral Hydrogen emission map around Magellanic-type dwarf irregular galaxy (dIm) NGC 1569. In the Spring of 2010, the Robert C. Byrd Green Bank Telescope (GBT) was used to map a 9 degree x 2 degree region in HI line e mission that includes NGC 1569 and IC 342 as well as two other dwarf galaxies. The primary objective for these observations was to search for structures potentially connecting NGC 1569 with IC 342 group members in order to trace previous interactions and thus, provide an explanation for the starburst and peculiar kinematics prevalent in NGC 1569. A large, half-degree diameter HI cloud was detected that shares the same position and velocity as NGC 1569. Also, two long structures were discovered that are reminiscent of intergalactic filaments extending out in a v-shaped manner from NGC 1569 toward UGCA 92, a nearby dwarf galaxy. These filamentary structures extend for about 1.5 degrees, which is 77 kpc at NGC 1569. There is a continuous velocity succession with the 0.5 degree HI cloud, filaments, and main body of the galaxy. The 0.5 degree HI cloud and filamentary structures may be foreground Milky Way, but are suggestive as possible remnants of an interaction between NGC 1569 and UGCA 92. The data also show two tidal tails extending from UGCA 86 and IC 342, respectively. These structures may be part of a continuous HI bridge but more data are needed to determine if this is the case.
