A new type of plasmarons formed by the compound of photoelectrons and acoustic surface plasmon excitations is investigated in the system p(2x2)-K/Graphite. The physics behind these types of plasmarons, e-plasmarons, is different from the ones recently found in graphene where the loss feature is argued to result from the photohole-plasmon interaction, h-plasmarons. Based on first principles methods we calculate the dispersion of e-plasmaron excitation rate which yields a broad feature below the parabolic quantum-well band with a peak about 0.4 eV below the quantum well band in the Gamma-point.
The full three dimensional dispersion of the pi-bands, Fermi velocities and effective masses are measured with angle resolved photoemission spectroscopy and compared to first-principles calculations. The band structure by density-functional theory st
We have studied the c-axis interlayer magnetoresistance (ILMR), R_c(B) in graphite. The measurements have been performed on strongly anisotropic highly oriented pyrolytic graphite (HOPG) samples in magnetic field up to B = 9 T applied both parallel a
Exposure of highly oriented pyrolytic graphite to bromine vapor gives rise to in-plane charge conductivities which increase monotonically with intercalation time toward values (for ~6 at% Br) that are significantly higher than Cu at temperatures down
We study experimentally and theoretically the Fano-shaped phonon peak at 1590 cm$^{-1}$ (0.2 eV) in the in-plane optical conductivity of pristine graphite. We show that the anomalously large spectral weight and the Fano asymmetry of the peak can be q
We investigate the optical properties of bromine intercalated highly orientated pyrolytic graphite (Br-HOPG) and provide a novel interpretation of the data. We observe new absorption features below 620 meV which are absent in the absorption spectrum
