We investigate the effects of the regularization procedure used in the J-Matrix method. We show that it influences the convergence, and propose an alternative regularization approach. We explicitly perform some model calculations to demonstrate the improvement.

We compare three methods to calculate the nucleon-nucleon t-matrix based on the three-dimensional formulation of J. Golak et al., Phys. Rev. C 81, 034006, (2010). In the first place we solve a system of complex linear inhomogeneous equations directly for the t-matrix. Our second method is based on iterations and a variant of the Lanczos algorithm. In the third case we obtain the t-matrix in two steps, solving a system of real linear equations for the k-matrix expansion coefficients and then solving an on-shell equation, which connects the scalar coefficients of the k- and t-matrices. A very good agreement among the three methods is demonstrated for selected nucleon-nucleon scattering observables using a chiral next-to-next-to-leading-order neutron-proton potential. We also apply our three-dimensional framework to the demanding problem of proton-proton scattering, using a corresponding version of the nucleon-nucleon potential and supplementing it with the (screened) Coulomb force, taken also in the three-dimensional form. We show converged results for two different screening functions and find a very good agreement with other methods dealing with proton-proton scattering.

We present a fully microscopic three-cluster nuclear model for light nuclei on the basis of a J-Matrix approach. We apply the Modified J-Matrix method on $^{6}He$ and $^{6}Be$ for both scattering and reaction problems, analyse the Modified J-Matrix c alculation, and compare the results to experimental data.
The J-matrix inverse scattering nucleon-nucleon potentials (JISP), describing both two-nucleon data and bound and resonant states of light nuclei to high accuracy, are tested on the total photoabsorption cross sections of Deuteron, Triton, 3He and 4H e. The calculations in the three- and four-body systems are carried out via the Lorentz integral transform method and the hyperspherical harmonics (HH) technique. To this end the HH formalism has been adapted to accommodate non-local potentials. The cross sections calculated with the JISP are compared to those obtained with more traditional realistic interactions, which include two- and three-nucleon forces. While the results of the two kinds of potential models do not differ significantly at lower energies, beyond the resonance peak they show fairly large discrepancies, which increase with the nuclear mass. We argue that these discrepancies may be due to a probably incorrect long range behavior of the JISP, since the one pion exchange is not manifestly implemented there.

We review some aspects of R-matrix theory and its application to the semi-empirical analysis of nuclear reactions. Important applications for nuclear astrophysics and recent results for the ${}^{12}{rm C}(alpha,gamma){}^{16}{rm O}$ reaction are emphasized.
The nuclear matrix elements $M^{0 u}$ of the neutrinoless double beta decay ($0 ubetabeta$) are evaluated for $^{76}$Ge,$^{100}$Mo, $^{130}$Te, and $^{136}$Xe within the Renormalized Quasiparticle Random Phase Approximation (RQRPA) and the simple QRP A. Three sets of single particle level schemes are used, ranging in size from 9 to 23 orbits. When the strength of the particle-particle interaction is adjusted so that the $2 ubetabeta$ decay rate is correctly reproduced, the resulting $M^{0 u}$ values become essentially independent on the size of the basis, and on the form of different realistic nucleon-nucleon potentials. Thus, one of the main reasons for variability of the calculated $M^{0 u}$ within these methods is eliminated.
