We classify open maximal subalgebras of all infinite-dimensional linearly compact simple Lie superalgebras. This is applied to the classification of infinite-dimensional Lie superalgebras of vector fields, acting transitively and primitively in a formal neighborhood of a point of a finite-dimensional supermanifold.

Using Howe duality we compute explicitly Kostant-type homology groups for a wide class of representations of the infinite-dimensional Lie superalgebra $hat{frak{gl}}_{infty|infty}$ and its classical subalgebras at positive integral levels. We also ob tain Kostant-type homology formulas for the Lie algebra $ widehat{frak{gl}}_infty$ at negative integral levels. We further construct resolutions in terms of generalized Verma modules for these representations.

We discuss quantum deformations of Jordanian type for Lie superalgebras. These deformations are described by twisting functions with support from Borel subalgebras and they are multiparameter in the general case. The total twists are presented in exp licit form for the Lie superalgebras sl(m|n) and osp(1|2n). We show also that the classical $r$-matrix for a light-cone deformation of D=4 super-Poincare algebra is of Jordanian type and a corresponding twist is given in explicit form.
One of the algebraic structures that has emerged recently in the study of the operator product expansions of chiral fields in conformal field theory is that of a Lie conformal algebra. A Lie pseudoalgebra is a generalization of the notion of a Lie co nformal algebra for which C[partial] is replaced by the universal enveloping algebra H of a finite-dimensional Lie algebra. The finite (i.e., finitely generated over H) simple Lie pseudoalgebras were classified in our previous work. The present paper is the second in our series on representation theory of simple Lie pseudoalgebras. In the first paper we showed that any finite irreducible module over a simple Lie pseudoalgebra of type W or S is either an irreducible tensor module or the kernel of the differential in a member of the pseudo de Rham complex. In the present paper we establish a similar result for Lie pseudoalgebras of type K, with the pseudo de Rham complex replaced by a certain reduction called the contact pseudo de Rham complex. This reduction in the context of contact geometry was discovered by Rumin.

A way to construct (conjecturally all) simple finite dimensional modular Lie (super)algebras over algebraically closed fields of characteristic not 2 is offered. In characteristic 2, the method is supposed to give only simple Lie (super)algebras grad ed by integers and only some of the non-graded ones). The conjecture is backed up with the latest results computationally most difficult of which are obtained with the help of Grozmans software package SuperLie.
In the article at hand, we sketch how, by utilizing nilpotency to its fullest extent (Engel, Super Engel) while using methods from the theory of universal enveloping algebras, a complete description of the indecomposable representations may be reache d. In practice, the combinatorics is still formidable, though. It turns out that the method applies to both a class of ordinary Lie algebras and to a similar class of Lie superalgebras. Besides some examples, due to the level of complexity we will only describe a few precise results. One of these is a complete classification of which ideals can occur in the enveloping algebra of the translation subgroup of the Poincare group. Equivalently, this determines all indecomposable representations with a single, 1-dimensional source. Another result is the construction of an infinite-dimensional family of inequivalent representations already in dimension 12. This is much lower than the 24-dimensional representations which were thought to be the lowest possible. The complexity increases considerably, though yet in a manageable fashion, in the supersymmetric setting. Besides a few examples, only a subclass of ideals of the enveloping algebra of the super Poincare algebra will be determined in the present article.
