We consider a large-N Chern-Simons theory for the attractive bosonic matter (Jackiw-Pi model) in the Hamiltonian collective-field approach based on the 1/N expansion. We show that the dynamics of low-lying density excitations around the ground-state vortex configuration is equivalent to that of the Sutherland model. The relationship between the Chern-Simons coupling constant lambda and the Calogero-Sutherland statistical parameter lambda_s signalizes some sort of statistical transmutation accompanying the dimensional reduction of the initial problem.

We study a nonlocal theory that combines both the Pseudo quantum electrodynamics (PQED) and Chern-Simons actions among two-dimensional electrons. In the static limit, we conclude that the competition of these two interactions yields a Coulomb potenti al with a screened electric charge given by $e^2/(1+theta^2)$, where $theta$ is the dimensionless Chern-Simons parameter. This could be useful for describing the substrate interaction with two-dimensional materials and the doping dependence of the dielectric constant in graphene. In the dynamical limit, we calculate the effective current-current action of the model considering Dirac electrons. We show that this resembles the electromagnetic and statistical interactions, but with two different overall constants, given by $e^2/(1+theta^2)$ and $e^2theta/(1+theta^2)$. Therefore, the $theta$-parameter does not provide a topological mass for the Gauge field in PQED, which is a relevant difference in comparison with quantum electrodynamics. Thereafter, we apply the one-loop perturbation theory in our model. Within this approach, we calculate the electron self-energy, the electron renormalized mass, the corrected gauge-field propagator, and the renormalized Fermi velocity for both high- and low-speed limits, using the renormalization group. In particular, we obtain a maximum value of the renormalized mass for $thetaapprox 0.36$. This behavior is an important signature of the model and relations with doping control of band gap size are also discussed in the conclusions.

Noncommutative Maxwell-Chern-Simons theory in 3-dimensions is defined in terms of star product and noncommutative fields. Seiberg-Witten map is employed to write it in terms of ordinary fields. A parent action is introduced and the dual action is der ived. For spatial noncommutativity it is studied up to second order in the noncommutativity parameter theta. A new noncommutative Chern-Simons action is defined in terms of ordinary fields, inspired by the dual action. Moreover, a transformation between noncommuting and ordinary fields is proposed.
In the standard electroweak theory that describes nature, the Chern-Simons number associated with the vacua as well as the unstable sphaleron solutions play a crucial role in the baryon number violating processes. We recall why the Chern-Simons numbe r should be generalized from a set of discrete values to a dynamical (quantum) variable. Via the construction of an appropriate Hopf invariant and the winding number, we discuss how the geometric information in the gauge fields is also captured in the Higgs field. We then discuss the choice of the Hopf variable in relation to the Chern-Simons variable.

We argue that N=2 supersymmetric Chern-Simons theories exhibit a strong-weak coupling Seiberg-type duality. We also discuss supersymmetry breaking in these theories.
We study resurgence properties of partition function of SU(2) Chern-Simons theory (WRT invariant) on closed three-manifolds. We check explicitly that in various examples Borel transforms of asymptotic expansions posses expected analytic properties. I n examples that we study we observe that contribution of irreducible flat connections to the path integral can be recovered from asymptotic expansions around abelian flat connections. We also discuss connection to Floer instanton moduli spaces, disk instantons in 2d sigma models, and length spectra of complex geodesics on the A-polynomial curve.
