Within the framework of Geodesic Brane Gravity, the deviation from General Relativity is parameterized by the conserved bulk energy. The corresponding geodesic evolution/nucleation of a de-Sitter brane is shown to be exclusively driven by a double-well Higgs potential, rather than by a plain cosmological constant. The (hairy) horizon serves then as the locus of unbroken $Z_{2}$ symmetry. The quartic structure of the scalar potential, singled out on finiteness grounds of the total (including the dark component) energy density, chooses the Hartle-Hawking no-boundary proposal.

We present and describe an exact solution of Einsteins equations which represents a snapping cosmic string in a vacuum background with a cosmological constant $Lambda$. The snapping of the string generates an impulsive spherical gravitational wave wh ich is a particular member of a known family of such waves. The global solution for all values of $Lambda$ is presented in various metric forms and interpreted geometrically. It is shown to represent the limit of a family of sandwich type N Robinson-Trautman waves. It is also derived as a limit of the C-metric with $Lambda$, in which the acceleration of the pair of black holes becomes unbounded while their masses are scaled to zero.
In the presence of a cosmological constant, interpreted as a purely geometric entity, absence of matter is represented by a de Sitter spacetime. As a consequence, ordinary Poincare special relativity is no longer valid and must be replaced by a de Si tter special relativity. By considering the kinematics of a spinless particle in a de Sitter spacetime, we study the geodesics of this spacetime, the ensuing definitions of canonical momenta, and explore possible implications for quantum mechanics.
We study the nonlinear evolution of the spherical symmetric black holes under a small neutral scalar field perturbation in Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory with coupling function $f(phi)=e^{-bphi}$ in asymptotic anti-de Sitter spacetime. The non-minim al coupling between scalar and Maxwell fields allows the transmission of the energy from the Maxwell field to the scalar field, but also behaves as a repulsive force for the scalar. The scalar field oscillates with damping amplitude and converges to a final value by a power law. The irreducible mass of the black hole increases abruptly at initial times and then saturates to the final value exponentially. The saturating rate is twice the decaying rate of the dominant mode of the scalar. The effects of the black hole charge, the cosmological constant and the coupling parameter on the evolution are studied in detail. When the initial configuration is a naked singularity spacetime with a large charge to mass ratio, a horizon will form soon and hide the singularity.

The construction of exact linearized solutions to the Einstein equations within the Bondi-Sachs formalism is extended to the case of linearization about de Sitter spacetime. The gravitational wave field measured by distant observers is constructed, l eading to a determination of the energy measured by such observers. It is found that gravitational wave energy conservation does not normally apply to inertial observers, but that it can be formulated for a class of accelerated observers, i.e. with worldlines that are timelike but not geodesic.
Gaussian curvature of the two-surface r=0, t=const is calculated for the Kerr-de Sitter and Kerr-Newman-de Sitter solutions, yielding non-zero analytical expressions for both the cases. The results obtained, on the one hand, exclude the possibility f or that surface to be a disk and, on the other hand, permit one to establish a correct geometrical interpretation of that surface for each of the two solutions.
