Nonmagnetic impurity effects of the spin disordered state in the triangular antiferromagnet NiGa$_2$S$_4$ was studied through magnetic and thermal measurements for Ni$_{1-x}$Zn$_x$Ga$_2$S$_4$ (0.0le xle 0.3). Only 1 % substitution is enough to strongly suppress the coherence observed in the spin disordered state. However, the suppression is not complete and the robust feature of the T^2 dependent specific heat and its scaling behavior with the Weiss temperature indicate the existence of a coherent Nambu-Goldstone mode. Absence of either conventional magnetic order or bulk spin freezing suggests a novel symmetry breaking of the ground state.
NiGa$_2$S$_4$ is a triangular lattice S=1 system with strong two-dimensionality of the lattice, actively discussed as a candidate to host spin-nematic order brought about by strong quadrupole coupling. Using Raman scattering spectroscopy we identify
We investigate the low temperature magnetic properties of a $S=frac{5}{2}$ Heisenberg kagome antiferromagnet, the layered monodiphosphate Li$_9$Fe$_3$(P$_2$O$_7$)$_3$(PO$_4$)$_2$, using magnetization measurements and $^{31}$P nuclear magnetic resonan
The crystal structure and magnetic correlations in triangular antiferromagnet FeGa$_2$S$_4$ are studied by x-ray diffraction, magnetic susceptibility, neutron diffraction and neutron inelastic scattering. We report significant mixing at the cation si
We report the existence of Griffiths phase (GP) and its influence on critical phenomena in layered Sr$_2$IrO$_4$ ferromagnet (T$_C$ = 221.5 K). The power law behavior of inverse magentic susceptibility, 1/$chi$(T) with exponent $lambda = 0.18(2)$ con
We present measurements of the optical spectra on single crystals of spinel-type compound cis. This material undergoes a sharp metal-insulator transition at 230 K. Upon entering the insulating state, the optical conductivity shows an abrupt spectral
