Here we report a systematic investigation on the evolution of the structural and physical properties, including the charge density wave and superconductivity of the polycrystalline CuIr2Te4-xIx. X-ray diffraction results indicate that both of a and c lattice parameters increase linearly. The resistivity measurements indicate that the charge density wave is destabilized with slight x but reappears when x is large than 0.9. Meanwhile, the superconducting transition temperature enhances as x raises and reaches a maximum value of around 2.95 K for the optimal composition CuIr2Te3.9I0.1 followed by a slight decrease with higher iodine doping content. The specific heat jump for the optimal composition CuIr2Te3.9I0.1 is approximately 1.46, which is close to the Bardeen Cooper Schrieffer value which is 1.43, indicating it is a bulk superconductor. The results of thermodynamic heat capacity measurements under different magnetic fields, magnetization and magneto-transport measurements further suggest that CuIr2Te4-xIx bulks are type II superconductors. Finally, an electronic phase diagram for this CuIr2Te4-xIx system has been constructed. The present study provides a suitable material platform for further investigation of the interplay of the CDW and superconductivity.

We report the anomalous charge density wave (CDW) state evolution and dome-like superconductivity (SC) in CuIr2Te4-xSex series. Room temperature powder X ray-diffraction (PXRD) results indicate that CuIr2Te4-xSex compounds retain the same structure a s the host CuIr2Te4 and the unit cell constants a and c manifest a linear decline with increasing Se content. Magnetization, resistivity and heat capacity results suggest that superconducting transition temperature (Tc) exhibits a weak dome-like variation as substituting Te by Se with the maximum Tc = 2.83 K for x = 0.1 followed by suppression in Tc and simultaneous decrease of the superconducting volume fraction. Unexpectedly, the CDW-like transition (TCDW) is suppressed with lower Se doping but re-emerges at higher doping. Meanwhile, the temperature-dependent XRD measurements show that the trigonal structure is stable at 20 K, 100 K and 300 K for the host sample and the doping composition with x = 0.5, thus we propose that the behaviour CDW-like transition arises from the disorder effect created by chemical doping and is not related to structural transition. The lower and the upper critical fields of these compounds are also addressed.

We report the interplay between charge-density-wave (CDW) and superconductivity of 1$T$-Fe$_{x}$Ta$_{1-x}$S$_{2}$ ($0leq x leq 0.05$) single crystals. The CDW order is gradually suppressed by Fe-doping, accompanied by the disappearance of pseudogap/M ott-gap as shown by the density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The superconducting state develops at low temperatures within the CDW state for the samples with the moderate doping levels. The superconductivity strongly depends on $x$ within a narrow range, and the maximum superconducting transition temperature is 2.8 K as $x=0.02$. We propose that the induced superconductivity and CDW phases are separated in real space. For high doping level ($x>0.04$), the Anderson localization (AL) state appears, resulting in a large increase of resistivity. We present a complete electronic phase diagram of 1$T$-Fe$_{x}$Ta$_{1-x}$S$_{2}$ system that shows a dome-like $T_{c}(x)$.
By measuring the temperature dependence of the resistance, we investigated the effect of Cu doping on superconductivity (SC) in Cu-doped TaSe$_3$ in which the charge density wave (CDW) transition is induced by Cu doping. We observed an emergence of a region where the SC transition temperature ($T_mathrm{C}$) decreased in samples with higher Cu concentrations and found that the region tended to expand with increasing Cu concentration. In addition, the temperature dependence of the upper critical field ($H_mathrm{C2}$) of Cu-doped TaSe$_3$ was found to differ from that of pure TaSe$_3$. Based on these experimental results and the fact that the SC of TaSe$_3$ is filamentary, we conclude that SC is suppressed locally by Cu doping and competes with the CDW in Cu-doped TaSe$_3$. The resistance anomaly due to the CDW transition was extremely small and the size of the anomaly was enhanced with increasing Cu concentration but the temperature at which the anomaly appeared hardly changed. This result of the anomaly and the local suppression of SC imply that the induced CDWs are short-range order in the vicinity of Cu atoms. We also discuss the effect of the pinning of CDWs on the relationship between SC and short-range order CDWs.
The charge response in the spin chain/ladder compound Sr_14-xCa_xCu_24O_41 is characterized by DC resistivity, low-frequency dielectric spectroscopy and optical spectroscopy. We identify a phase transition below which a charge-density wave (CDW) deve lops in the ladder arrays. Calcium doping suppresses this phase with the transition temperature decreasing from 210 K for x=0 to 10 K for x=9, and the CDW gap from 130 meV down to 3 meV, respectively. This suppression is due to the worsened nesting originating from the increase of the inter-ladder tight-binding hopping integrals, as well as from disorder introduced at the Sr sites. These results altogether speak in favor of two-dimensional superconductivity under pressure.
From systematic analysis of the high pulsed magnetic field resistance data of La$_{2-x}$Sr$_x$CuO$_{4}$ thin films, we extract an experimental phase diagram for several doping values ranging from the very underdoped to the very overdoped regimes. Our analysis highlights a competition between charge density waves and superconductivity which is ubiquitous between $x=0.08$ and $x=0.19$ and produces the previously observed double step transition. When suppressed by a strong magnetic field, superconductivity is resilient for two specific doping ranges centered around respectively $xapprox 0.09$ and $xapprox 0.19$ and the characteristic temperature for the onset of the competing charge density wave phase is found to vanish above $x = 0.19$. At $x=1/8$ the two phases are found to coexist exactly at zero magnetic field.
